COMMENT
A sporty Day-Date model featuring a black dial paired with a rotating bezel. The 0–60 minute scale with pointer emphasizes legibility, while the applied indexes with metal frames create a dimensional presence. A vivid orange seconds hand provides a sharp visual accent. The day display at 3 o’clock alternates between Kanji and English. The calendar mechanism is operated by pressing the crown—light pressure advances the day, while firmer pressure advances both the date and day simultaneously.
The dial remains clear, and the printed elements are well preserved. The case shows light surface wear consistent with use, though its overall form remains intact. The inner bezel’s pointer has aged from red to orange, lending a distinct vintage character. Fully serviced by our watchmaker.
The bold “WATER 70 PROOF” marking at 6 o’clock and the adoption of a rotating bezel reflect the practical tool-watch orientation of the era. The straightforward design—where function directly informs aesthetics—captures the authentic appeal unique to vintage 5 Sports models.
BRAND
Among the models actively developed by Seiko from the late 1960s through the 1970s, the Seiko 5 Sports gained remarkable popularity. Within this lineup, the Seiko 5 Sports Speed-Timer, equipped with a chronograph, became especially sought after by younger generations of the time. Its dynamic use of colored dials and sporty bezel designs captured the spirit of the era and secured its place as an enduring icon of Japanese vintage sports watches.
