ブライトリングの北米市場向けブランドであるワックマンの、1960年代後半〜1970年頃のクロノグラフです。ブラックをベースに、インダイヤルとカレンダースケールをオフホワイトで切り替えたツートンは、視認性の良さと清潔感が同居するデザイン。パンダ調のインダイヤルの間に並ぶカレンダー窓、アクセントとして効くオレンジのクロノ秒針など、情報量の多さを整然とまとめています。ムーブメントはバルジュー72系の系譜に連なるトリプルカレンダー仕様として知られ、カレンダー機構を載せた“723（Calendar）”が代表例です。

ケースの状態は使用傷が少々見られますが、全体的に良好なコンディションを維持しています。ベゼルのプリントは剥がれること無く現存しており、裏蓋も同様に刻印が掠れること無く残っております。ダイヤルはエイジングによる色味の変化が見られず、針とインデックスはプリントが当時のままを保っています。夜光は一部色味の変化はみられますが、全体に影響を及ぼすものではありません。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

COMMENT

A late 1960s to circa 1970 chronograph from Wakmann, the brand used by Breitling for the North American market. The black base dial contrasts with off-white subdials and calendar scale, creating a clean two-tone layout that balances legibility with visual clarity. The so-called panda-style registers, aligned calendar apertures, and the vivid orange chronograph seconds hand bring structure to an otherwise information-rich dial. The movement is associated with the Valjoux 72 lineage in its triple-calendar form, most notably represented by the Valjoux 72C (“Calendar”), integrating a full calendar mechanism atop the renowned chronograph base.

The case shows light signs of wear but remains in overall good condition. The bezel print is intact, and the caseback engravings remain clearly defined without fading. The dial retains its original tone with no noticeable discoloration from aging. The hands and indexes preserve their period-correct print, while the luminous material shows slight tonal variation in places, consistent with age yet not detrimental to the overall impression. Wakmann functioned as Breitling’s vehicle for distribution in North America, offering closely related chronographs tailored to that market. At the time, a triple-calendar chronograph represented a higher-tier specification—an era when consolidating multiple indications onto a single dial signified technical sophistication.
