1950年代後半から1960年代初頭に製造された、ヴァシュロン＆コンスタンタン Ref.6099です。18Kイエローゴールド製のラウンドケースは、厚さを約5.0mmに抑えた極薄の設計。最も印象的なのは、マルタ十字を四分割したような造形のラグです。それぞれのラグをマルタ十字の一片に見立て、ケースと組み合わせることでひとつの意匠を完成させています。この造形は、1950年代における同社の最高級モデルの一つ、クロノメーター・ロワイヤル Ref.6111を想起させます。シャンパンカラーのダイヤルには中心から放射状に広がるサンレイ仕上げを施し、細身のバーインデックスとドーフィンハンドを配した、ノンデイトの2針仕様です。

ケースには使用に伴う細かな傷が見られますが、円形のミドルケースと直線的なラグを組み合わせた独特の輪郭は良好に保たれています。ラグ上面と側面の境界も確認でき、マルタ十字を思わせる造形が崩れることなく残っています。ダイヤルにはわずかな経年変化が見られるものの、サンレイ仕上げと各種プリントは明瞭です。針とインデックスにも目立つ腐食やメッキの剥がれはなく、ゴールドケースと調和した落ち着いた輝きを維持しています。裏蓋内側にはヴァシュロン＆コンスタンタンの銘、Ref.6099、18Kを示す「0.750」の刻印とホールマークが鮮明に残っています。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

ムーブメントは、ヴァシュロン・コンスタンタン創業200周年にあたる1955年に発表された手巻きCal.1003を搭載。厚さわずか1.64mm、117個の部品から構成され、発表当時は世界最薄の機械式腕時計用ムーブメントでした。本個体に搭載されたCal.K1003/1は17石で、温度差、等時性、5姿勢で調整され、ジュネーブ・シールを取得しています。ケースを薄く見せるだけでなく、ラグを含めた全体の造形まで軽快に整えられている点がRef.6099の特徴です。マルタ十字を分解した彫刻的な外装と、歴史的な極薄キャリバーを組み合わせた、ヴァシュロン＆コンスタンタンらしい技術と造形の結びつきを楽しめるモデルです。

COMMENT

Produced between the late 1950s and early 1960s, this Vacheron & Constantin Ref.6099 features an exceptionally slim 18K yellow gold case measuring approximately 5.0mm in thickness. Its most distinctive elements are the lugs, shaped like four separated sections of the Maltese cross. Each forms one part of the motif, completed when arranged around the circular case. The construction recalls the Chronomètre Royal Ref.6111, one of the manufacture’s highest-grade models of the 1950s. The champagne-colored dial has a fine sunburst finish, complemented by slender baton indexes and dauphine hands in a restrained, time-only layout.

The case shows fine scratches from use, though its distinctive outline—combining a circular middle case with angular lugs—remains well preserved. The transitions between the upper and side surfaces of the lugs are still visible, retaining their Maltese cross-inspired form. The dial displays slight aging, while its sunburst finish and printed details remain clear. The hands and indexes show no notable corrosion or loss of plating and retain a subdued sheen that complements the gold case. Inside the case back, the Vacheron & Constantin signature, Ref.6099, “0.750” gold designation, and hallmarks remain clearly legible. Fully serviced by our watchmaker.

Inside is the manually wound Cal.1003, introduced in 1955 to mark Vacheron Constantin’s 200th anniversary. Measuring only 1.64mm thick and comprising 117 components, it was the world’s thinnest mechanical wristwatch movement at the time of its introduction. The Cal.K1003/1 fitted to this example has 17 jewels, was adjusted for temperature, isochronism, and five positions, and carries the Geneva Seal. Ref.6099 is distinguished not only by its slim case but also by the lightness and balance of its overall form, including the lugs. Its sculptural, Maltese cross-inspired exterior and historically significant ultra-thin calibre offer a clear expression of Vacheron & Constantin’s technical and aesthetic approach.
