18Kイエローゴールド無垢ケースを備えた、初代ロードマーベルの最上位仕様です。本個体は通称“Mark 1 Dial”と呼ばれる初期型ダイヤルで、アプライドの「S」を冠したアプライドロゴを特徴とします。立体的に配されたSロゴと彫り込みによるLORD MARVEL表記は、のちのプリント仕様とは明確に一線を画す意匠です。インデックスは端正なバーを基調としつつ、初期世代特有の造形バランスを保ち、山型の稜線を持つドーフィンハンドが光を鋭く反射します。真円ケースにストレートラグを組み合わせたクラシックなプロポーションは、当時の国産最高峰にふさわしい佇まいです。

ケースはエッジが明瞭に残り、ラグのラインも崩れていません。18K無垢ならではの重みと質感をしっかりと感じられる状態です。ダイヤルは外周に僅かに経年変化が見られますが、肉眼ではほとんど見られません。アプライドロゴの立体感は鮮明で、針やインデックスの鏡面は美しく保たれています。入水の痕跡は確認できず、全体として丁寧に扱われてきたことがうかがえる個体です。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

ロードマーベルは、グランドセイコー誕生以前におけるセイコーの到達点を示すモデルです。1961年前後に製造された18K無垢仕様は当時の国産市場で最高価格帯に位置し、その販売価格は大卒初任給の倍以上という特別な存在でした。Mark 1ダイヤルの個体は流通が限られ、セイコーの黎明期を語る上でも重要なピースです。日本の高級時計史における転換点を体現した、格調高い一本といえます。

1960年代は、機械式腕時計は完成期とも言えるほどの発展を遂げた時期で、セイコーは精度コンクールの分野でも量産の分野でも、世界に追いつき、追いぬいた時代であった。同時に、「時計の電子化」が進展し、1969（昭和44）年12月にセイコーが世界初のクオーツ（水晶）腕時計を発売することにより、機械式腕時計からクオーツ腕時計へと大きく舵を切ろうとする時期でもあった

The highest specification of the first-generation Lord Marvel, housed in a solid 18K yellow gold case. This example features the early “Mark 1 Dial,” distinguished by its applied “S” logo and raised emblem. The dimensional S mark and engraved LORD MARVEL lettering clearly set it apart from later printed versions. The indexes are executed in refined bar form, maintaining the balanced proportions unique to the earliest generation, while sharply faceted dauphine hands reflect light with crisp intensity. The perfectly round case paired with straight lugs creates a classical silhouette befitting one of Japan’s finest timepieces of its era.

The case retains well-defined edges, and the lug lines remain intact. The weight and tactile presence characteristic of solid 18K gold are fully preserved. The dial shows only the faintest aging near the outer edge, barely noticeable to the naked eye. The applied logo retains strong dimensionality, and the polished surfaces of the hands and indexes remain bright. The Lord Marvel represents Seiko’s pinnacle before the birth of Grand Seiko. Solid 18K examples produced around 1961 occupied the very highest price bracket in the domestic market at the time, reportedly exceeding twice the starting salary of a university graduate. Mark 1 dial variants are scarce, making them significant pieces in understanding Seiko’s formative years. This is a distinguished watch that embodies a pivotal chapter in the history of Japanese high-grade watchmaking.
