COMMENT

サーフボードダイヤルのブライトリングダトラ。２つのインダイアルを囲むデザインがそのニックネームの由来です。当時これを模倣したメーカーは少なくありませんでした。バルジュー7734搭載、一般的に見られる30分のバージョンではなく、45分のレジスターを備えたバージョンを使用しました。６時位置にデイト表示を備えています。回転ベゼルにより時と分の経過時間をクロノグラフとは別に測定できます。

ケースの状態は軽微な使用傷こそ見られますが、全体として良好なコンディションを維持しています。ベゼルのプリントは剥がれがなく、裏蓋の刻印も掠れずに残っています。ダイヤルはエイジングによる色味の変化が見られず、針とインデックスのプリントは当時の質感を保っています。夜光は一部に色味の変化が見られますが、全体の印象を損なうものではありません。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

COMMENT

The so-called “Surfboard” dial Breitling Datora takes its nickname from the oval framing that encircles the two subdials, a bold design cue that defined its character. Few designs of the era were left unimitated. This example is powered by the Valjoux 7734, notably the less common 45-minute register variant rather than the more frequently seen 30-minute configuration. A date aperture is positioned at 6 o’clock, and the rotating bezel allows elapsed hours and minutes to be tracked independently of the chronograph function, enhancing its practicality as a true tool watch.

The case shows only minor signs of wear and remains in overall very good condition. The bezel print is intact, and the caseback engravings remain clearly visible without fading. The dial retains its original tone without noticeable discoloration from aging, while the hands and indexes preserve their period-correct texture. The luminous material shows slight tonal variation in places, consistent with age, yet it does not detract from the overall impression. Fully serviced by our watchmaker.

Since 1915, when it introduced one of the earliest wrist chronographs with a dedicated pusher, Breitling has stood at the forefront of chronograph innovation.
