PT900のプラチナケースを採用した、いわゆる「ISOMURAケース」の個体で、当時の日本市場との関わりを感じさせる興味深い一本です。ケース径は34.5mmで、丸みを帯びたベゼルと細く伸びるラグが、上品で端正な印象を与えます。電着塗装によるホワイトダイヤルに筆記体のInternational Watch Co.ロゴ、砲弾型のアプライドインデックス、外周のパールドロップを組み合わせた、クラシックな構成です。ムーブメントは、IWCを代表するペラトン式自動巻の系譜にあたるCal.852を搭載しています。

ケースは使用に伴う小傷が見られますが、プラチナケースらしい重厚な質感をしっかりと保っています。ラグは立体感があり、日本製ケースならではの端正で丁寧な作りを感じさせます。ダイヤルは年式を考慮すると素晴らしいコンディションを保っており、筆記体ロゴやAUTOMATIC表記は明瞭に残っています。針とインデックスは細かな経年感を伴いながら、光を受けた際の反射が美しく、ヴィンテージウォッチとして自然な雰囲気を備えています。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

この時計はダイヤルとムーブメントがスイス、ケースが日本で製造されました。当時の日本では、貴金属製腕時計を完成品として輸入する場合に高額な関税がかかったため、IWC社は大きな市場であった日本にケースの国内製造を承認したとされています。スイス製ムーブメントと日本製PT900ケースを組み合わせた特別な背景を持ち、自動巻ノンデイトの扱いやすさ、プラチナケースの希少性を併せ持つヴィンテージIWCです。

BRAND

アメリカマサチューセッツ州ボストン出身の時計師、フロレンタイン・アリオスト・ジョーンズが1868年に創立したのが始まり。特徴的なデザインで今なお世界中で人気を誇る「パイロット・ウォッチ」コレクションなど、多くの人気シリーズを発売。磁気から時計を守る為の軟鉄製インナーケースや、IWC独自の"ぺラトン式"と呼ばれる両回転式自動巻機構はあまりに有名。

This is an intriguing example fitted with a PT900 platinum case, known as an “Isomura case,” reflecting its connection to the Japanese market of the period. The case measures 34.5mm in diameter, with a rounded bezel and slender extended lugs that give the watch an elegant and well-balanced appearance. The electro-deposited white dial features a cursive International Watch Co. logo, bullet-shaped applied indexes, and pearl-drop minute markers around the outer edge, creating a classical layout. It is powered by the Cal.852, part of IWC’s celebrated line of Pellaton automatic movements.

The case shows minor scratches from use, but retains the substantial feel characteristic of platinum. The lugs have a pleasing dimensional quality, reflecting the precise and careful construction associated with Japanese-made cases. Considering its age, the dial remains in excellent condition, with the cursive logo and AUTOMATIC text still clearly visible. The hands and indexes show subtle signs of age, but their reflections under the light remain beautiful, giving the watch a natural vintage character. Fully serviced by our watchmaker.

The dial and movement of this watch were made in Switzerland, while the case was produced in Japan. At the time, importing complete wristwatches with precious metal cases into Japan was subject to high customs duties, and IWC is said to have approved domestic case production in Japan, which was an important market. Combining a Swiss-made movement with a Japanese-made PT900 platinum case, this vintage IWC has a special background, along with the ease of use of an automatic no-date watch and the rarity of a platinum case.

IWC was founded in 1868 by Florentine Ariosto Jones, a watchmaker from Boston, Massachusetts. The brand has produced many well-known collections, including the Pilot’s Watch line, which remains highly popular around the world for its distinctive design. IWC is also known for its technical achievements, including soft-iron inner cases designed to protect movements from magnetism and its proprietary Pellaton automatic winding system.
