ジェラルド・ジェンタがデザインしたユニバーサル・ジュネーブのダイバーズウォッチ。ポールルーターサブの最初期モデルになります。大ぶりな42ミリのケースはEPSA社製のスーパーコンプレッサーです。2時の竜頭でインナーベゼルを、4時の竜頭で時刻を操作します。2時竜頭の方がやや大きいのが、オリジナルの特徴になります。ダイヤルはブラックギルト、メーカーロゴからインデックスまで全て下地出しでデザインされています。インナーベゼルはプリントで、▽から20まではルミナスを塗布しています。針は極太のペンシルで、水中での視認性が考慮されています。希少なゲイフレアー社製エキスパンジョン純正ブレスを装備しています。

搭載ムーブメントであるCal.218はマイクローターと呼ばれる機構を採用しています。自動巻きの回転錘を、ベースムーブメントに埋め込むように設計しており、機械の薄型化を実現しました。同世代と比べても多い、28石のルビーを用いています。コートドジュネーブと呼ばれる、波のような模様に、特殊な微動緩急針を備えたテンプなど、作り込みが素晴らしいです。

ケースは素晴らしいプロポーションです。最低限度の小傷のみで、エッジが立っています。ダイヤルはミントコンディションです。ブラックミラーダイヤルは当時の質感を保っております。写真に映る白い傷は風防傷ですので、ご安心ください。インナーベゼルとインデックスのドット夜光、針夜光は芳醇なベージュカラーへと変化を遂げています。欠けが見られないのは高ポイントです。弊社にて分解掃除済みですので、ご購入後すぐお使いいただけます。ビデオを掲載しています。

This Universal Genève diver's watch, designed by Gerald Genta, marks the early stages of the Polerouter Sub series. Featuring a substantial 42mm case housing the EPSA Super Compressor, this timepiece boasts an iconic design. The 2 o'clock crown operates the inner bezel, while the 4 o'clock crown adjusts the time. A distinctive characteristic is the slightly larger size of the 2 o'clock crown. The black gilt dial showcases a unique design with an undertone finish, extending from the manufacturer's logo to the indexes. The printed inner bezel has luminous material applied from ▽ to 20. The thick pencil hands contribute to underwater visibility, and the watch is equipped with the rare Gay Frères expansion bracelet.

The movement, Cal.218, employs a micro-rotor mechanism, embedding the automatic winding rotor into the base movement for a slim profile. It utilizes 28 rubies, which were relatively abundant for its time, and features meticulous craftsmanship with the Côtes de Genève pattern, a wave-like design, and a special micro-adjustment needle on the balance.

The case exhibits impeccable proportions, with minimal scratches and sharp edges. The dial is in mint condition, maintaining the original texture of the black mirror dial. The white marks visible in the photos are on the crystal, ensuring the dial's integrity. The luminous dots on the inner bezel and indexes, as well as the hands, have transformed into a rich beige hue over time. The absence of any chipping is a notable highlight. The watch has undergone disassembly and cleaning by our company, making it ready for immediate use. A video has been provided for your reference.

The Mark 1 was produced for about a year, and subsequent models underwent a complete redesign. This piece, being one of the most crucial in Universal's history, would make a fantastic addition to any collection.

Universal Genève's history began in 1894 in Switzerland, founded by two watchmakers, Emile Decroix and Georges Perret. Renowned for creating luxurious design watches and complex timepieces, the brand made a mark in horological history with the development of the iconic <Compax> chronograph.
