日常使いし易い自動巻モデルのスピードマスター。手ごろな価格のスピードマスターとして近年人気を博しています。風防は後期モデルに見られるガラスを採用しています。ツイストラグやベゼルのタキメーターなど随所にプロフェッショナルモデルの名残が確認できます。ダイヤルはブルーのサンレイ仕上げ、インデックス部は一段下がっています。0時位置は30分積算計、6時位置は12時間積算計、9時位置はスモールセコンドです。ベースの機械はETA社製のメンテナンス性が高い機械です。オメガ仕様に美しくブラッシュアップされています。ボックスが付属します。

今でこそ「Speedmasterイコール宇宙」という図式がすぐに浮かび上がりますが、当時は宇宙とは全く関係のない、純粋なモータースポーツ用の時計として誕生。また、スピードマスターは、ダイヤルではなく外周ベゼルにタキメーターを表示した世界で初めての時計と言われています。1959年、スピードマスターはマイナーチェンジをします。ベゼルがアルミニウムの黒色ベースとなり、針の形状がアロー針からアルファ針に変更されたことで、より視認性が高まっています。NASAは宇宙での過酷な環境にも耐えうる丈夫なクロノグラフを探しており、名だたる強豪に勝ったスピードマスターを公式時計として採用。その後1969年人類初の月面着陸の際、スピードマスターを着用していたことは有名な話。

COMMENT

The Speedmaster, presented here as an everyday-friendly automatic model, has gained popularity in recent years for its affordability. This model features the glass seen in later versions for enhanced durability. Remnants of the professional model are evident throughout, with features like the twist lugs and the tachymeter on the bezel. The dial is finished in a captivating blue sunray style, with the indices slightly recessed. The 0 o'clock position houses a 30-minute totalizer, the 6 o'clock position holds a 12-hour totalizer, and the 9 o'clock position features a small seconds sub-dial. The base mechanism is an ETA-manufactured movement known for its high maintainability, skillfully enhanced to Omega specifications. The watch comes with its original box.

The case exhibits no prominent scratches or marks, allowing one to appreciate the distinctive Omega shape. The color dial shows no signs of degradation. While today the equation "Speedmaster equals space" immediately comes to mind, during its inception, the Speedmaster had no connection to space; it was born as a pure motorsport watch. Additionally, the Speedmaster is recognized as the world's first watch to display a tachymeter on the outer bezel instead of the dial. In 1959, the Speedmaster underwent a minor change, featuring a black aluminum-based bezel and a shift from arrow hands to alpha hands, enhancing visibility. NASA sought a robust chronograph capable of withstanding the harsh conditions of space, ultimately choosing the Speedmaster as its official timepiece after surpassing numerous contenders. The famous tale of the Speedmaster being worn during the historic 1969 moon landing is well-known, cementing its place in history as the first watch on the lunar surface.
