COMMENT

1919年以来、永遠に作り続けられているCARTIERの名作タンク。その中でも1975年から1976年にかけて販売された、ウッドケースのタンクです。現在ではワシントン条約で輸出入規制にあり、家具の業界でも注目をあつめているブラジリアンローズウッドが採用されています。ダイヤルにも同様の素材が使われており、天然の木目をダイヤルデザインとして楽しむことができます。ローマンインデックスとカルティエロゴはアプライドです。古い年式でしか見られない砲弾型カボジョンリューズを装備します。当時のボックスが付属します。

ムーブメントはカルティエの手巻きムーブメントとしてよく見られたCal.2512を採用。このモデルはダイヤルが、真鍮板に木を貼り付けている分厚くなっており、その分パーツも高さのある専用の車になっています。当モデル専用にパーツが製作された事でしょう。

素晴らしいコンディションです。このウッドタンクはケースサイドに損傷が見られる個体がほとんどですが、気になる削れや割れの兆候は見られません。ダイヤルはミントコンディションです。アプライドのインデックスは上面の鏡面仕上げにより、光でさまざまな表情を見せます。ベルトはクロコダイル製で、タンク専用オリジナルのサイズのまま製作されています。カルティエ純正のバックルが装備されており、そのオリジナル性をお楽しみいただけます。弊社にて分解掃除済みです。

現在では、ジュエラーとして名高いカルティエですが、まだ懐中時計が主流だった1904年に本格的な腕時計を製作したのはカルティエが最初でした。「タンク」という名前は、“戦車”を意味し、第一次世界大戦中の終結に貢献したといわれる、ルノー製の戦車がデザインの基となっています。 

COMMENT

Since 1919, Cartier has continuously produced the iconic Tank. Here, we present a unique wooden Tank model sold between 1975 and 1976. This model features Brazilian rosewood, a material now regulated by CITES and commonly used in high-end furniture. The dial also uses the same rosewood, allowing the natural wood grain to be appreciated as part of the design. The Roman numerals and Cartier logo are applied. It features a cannonball-shaped cabochon crown, a characteristic only seen in older models. The original box from that era is included.

The movement is the Cal. 2512, commonly found in Cartier's hand-wound watches. The dial is thicker due to the brass plate overlaid with wood, requiring specially made taller components for this model. This watch includes parts exclusively manufactured for this particular model.

The condition is exceptional. While most wooden Tanks show significant cracks on the case sides, this piece shows no such signs. The dial is in mint condition. The applied indices, with their mirror-finished surfaces, exhibit a variety of expressions in different lights. The strap is made of crocodile leather and crafted to the original size specific to the Tank. It features an original Cartier buckle, enhancing its authenticity. The watch has been disassembled and cleaned by our company.

This rare vintage Tank model enjoys cult status. It was sold exclusively in boutiques in London, Paris, and New York, with an estimated production of about 3,000 pieces.
