COMMENT

オメガのレジェンド、スピードマスター3rdモデルRef.105.003です。2ndモデルとの違いは、時分針がアルファからバータイプに。4thとの違いは、リューズガードが無くラグがストレートで、無骨な雰囲気のケース形状をしています。ケースメーカーは-65にのみに見られるFJ（RJ？）で一切の詳細は解明されていません。ですが、希少なものには変わりありません。搭載ムーブメントCal.321。ピラーホイール式のため、コスト高で、チラネジテンプに巻き上げヒゲと高級仕様です。

ベゼルは写真の通り小傷がありますが、フィルムに剥がれが見られず黒々としています。ケースはプロポーションが良く、ラグの3面が残っています。ダイアルはキズなどなく大変素晴らしコンディションで、夜光塗料が経年により変色して雰囲気も出ております。ブレスはオメガ純正キャタピラブレスはエクステンションが効いており、完全な1005.003が楽しめます。

リファレンス105.003は、スピードマスターの歴史の中で特別な存在です。 1964年に厳格なNASAテストを受け、最終的に1965年3月1日に承認されました。ジェミニミッションで宇宙飛行士たちに選ばれた時計でもあったため、その中の一人「エドホワイト」のニックネームになりました。

今でこそ「Speedmasterイコール宇宙」という図式がすぐに浮かび上がりますが、当時は宇宙とは全く関係のない、純粋なモータースポーツ用の時計として誕生。また、スピードマスターは、ダイヤルではなく外周ベゼルにタキメーターを表示した世界で初めての時計と言われています。1959年、スピードマスターはマイナーチェンジをします。ベゼルがアルミニウムの黒色ベースとなり、針の形状がアロー針からアルファ針に変更されたことで、より視認性が高まっています。NASAは宇宙での過酷な環境にも耐えうる丈夫なクロノグラフを探しており、名だたる強豪に勝ったスピードマスターを公式時計として採用。その後1969年人類初の月面着陸の際、スピードマスターを着用していたことは有名な話。

This is the legend of Omega, the Speedmaster 3rd model Ref.105.003. The difference from the 2nd model is that the hour and minute hands have changed from alpha to baton type. Compared to the 4th model, this one lacks crown guards and has straight lugs, giving it a rugged case shape. The case manufacturer is FJ (or possibly RJ) seen only in -65, with no further details known, but it remains a rare find. It houses the Cal.321 movement, known for its pillar wheel design, which is costly and features a swan neck regulator, signifying its high-end specifications.

The bezel shows minor scratches as seen in the photos but remains glossy black without any visible peeling of the paint. The case maintains excellent proportions, with all three lug facets intact. The dial is in fantastic condition without any scratches, and the aged luminescent paint adds character and atmosphere. The bracelet, an original Omega Caterpillar bracelet, features an effective extension, allowing for the enjoyment of the complete 1005.003 experience.

The reference 105.003 holds a special place in the history of the Speedmaster. It underwent rigorous NASA testing in 1964 and was finally approved on March 1, 1965. It was also the watch chosen by astronauts for the Gemini missions, earning it the nickname of one of them, "Ed White."

While today the equation "Speedmaster equals space" quickly comes to mind, back then it was born as a pure motorsport watch with no connection to space whatsoever. Additionally, the Speedmaster is said to be the world's first watch to display a tachymeter on the outer bezel instead of the dial. In 1959, the Speedmaster underwent a minor change, transitioning to a black aluminum base for the bezel and changing the shape of the hands from arrow to alpha style, improving visibility. NASA was in search of a durable chronograph capable of withstanding the harsh conditions of space and chose the Speedmaster after it outperformed numerous competitors. The famous story of the Speedmaster being worn during the first manned moon landing in 1969 further solidified its status as the official watch for space exploration.
