ROLEX OYSTER ROYAL Ref.6444 Herringbone Dial

COMMENT

COMMENT

The Oyster Royal from the 1950s stands out as one of the most elegant manual-winding models from Rolex, distinguished by its slim profile. Slightly larger than the Speedking, with a size that surpasses 30mm, it represents a transitional period before Rolex settled on a 34.5mm size in the late 1950s.

The dial features a “herringbone” guilloché pattern, with a central division creating a unique texture and a sense of luxury. The design exudes a classic charm. The indices include Arabic numerals at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock, with wedge-shaped indices at other positions.

The case is in excellent condition, with no major scratches. The dial has aged beautifully from a matte white to a rich cream color, offering a depth and character that only vintage pieces can provide. The lume on the hands and indices has mellowed with age, adding subtle accents to the overall design.

Among the Rolex models of the 1950s featuring guilloché dials, the Oyster Royal stands out for its exceptional craftsmanship. This piece is notable for its slim manual-winding case and refined, date-free face design. While simple in appearance, it boasts a high level of completion and sophistication. The ease of use and elegant design make it truly outstanding among its peers.
