国産時計の頂点を築いたグランドセイコーの原点、1stモデルRef.J14070。1960年から1963年までの短期間に生産され、当時のセイコーがスイスの高級時計ブランドと真っ向勝負するために送り出した意欲作です。金張りのケースは丸みを帯びたラウンドフォルムに太めのラグを組み合わせたデザインで、品格と存在感を併せ持っています。クリーミーホワイトのダイヤルとゴールドケースの調和は、高級感を漂わせながらも控えめで、非常に洗練された印象を与えます。インデックスは多面カットのバータイプを採用し、針は上面がフラットなドルフィン型。6時位置の星マーク入りのSD(Special Dial)ダイヤルは、金無垢インデックスを用いているとされる特別仕様で、高級機にのみ採用されました。搭載ムーブメントCal.3180は、セイコー初のハック機能を備えた精緻な機械で、グランドセイコーの革新の象徴と言える存在です。
