OMEGA Constellation 18K Yellow Gold Ref.2852

COMMENT

This example features the iconic twelve-sided "pie-pan" dial, renowned for its distinctive three-dimensional design. A vertical brushed finish graces the center of the dial, while the outer edge surrounding the indexes is stepped, creating a captivating interplay of light and shadow. Dauphine hands and diamond-cut indexes form a classically refined face that balances elegance and brilliance. The case is crafted from solid 18K yellow gold, with a crisp hallmark still clearly visible at the 5 o’clock lug. Although equipped with a snap-back case, it remains water-resistant and is built with a robust structure.

Accompanying this piece is an exceptionally rare original Omega “caterpillar” bracelet in solid 18K yellow gold—a highly coveted item that seldom appears on the market. It is fitted with end links stamped “32” .

The case shows only minimal signs of wear and preserves the smooth curvature and sharp edges unique to solid gold. The hallmark remains crisp and legible, indicating careful handling over the years. The dial is in pristine mint condition with no signs of aging. The hands are immaculate and free from tarnish or damage, while the multi-faceted indexes reflect light beautifully from every angle. The watch has been fully disassembled, cleaned, and serviced in-house.

This bold yet delicate design embodies Omega’s mid-century pursuit of sculptural elegance. The harmonious integration of dauphine hands and the dramatic pie-pan dial results in a presence that feels more like wearable art than a conventional wristwatch. In today’s market, many timepieces are judged by reference or production year alone—but discerning collectors will appreciate the individuality and rarity found in exceptional pieces like this.

The automatic movement boasts excellent winding efficiency, making manual winding virtually unnecessary during regular wear. The original Constellation crown prioritizes aesthetics, and while its winding feel may seem unconventional by modern standards, it remains faithful to the design intentions of the period.
