OMEGA Cal.26.5 SOB T2

COMMENT

COMMENT

This Omega wristwatch features the early and reliable Cal. 26.5 movement, one of the foundational calibers that powered the brand prior to the introduction of the 30mm series. The mid-size case showcases an elegant, seamless contour that flows smoothly from the case sides into the lugs. A six-notch screw-down caseback adds durability—an uncommon yet practical feature for its time. The dial is finished in black, with gilt minute track and logo, complemented by syringe hands and military-style Arabic numerals that enhance legibility.

The Cal. 26.5 was a cornerstone of Omega's production before the rise of the 30mm caliber, and it came in numerous variants, including center seconds and shock-resistant versions. This example represents a highly reliable and easily serviceable version, making it not only a collector's piece but also a practical option for regular wear.

The case is in excellent condition with minimal signs of wear; the lugs and crown show no noticeable damage. The dial has aged beautifully, revealing a light speckled pattern toward the center, adding to its vintage charm. The hands exhibit some patina and minor surface rust, but they harmonize with the overall subdued tone of the watch. The luminous material on both hands and indexes has aged to a warm beige, enhancing the piece’s classic appeal. The movement has been fully overhauled and cleaned by our workshop.

Produced during the World War II era, this watch exemplifies the era’s emphasis on functionality and reliability. It offers water resistance, shock protection, and exceptional legibility—all essential traits of a proper tool watch. With its minimal, utilitarian design and timeless proportions, this piece remains visually compelling to this day. A versatile vintage timepiece suitable for daily use or as a historical collectible.
