ケースは約36mmと大ぶりながら、厚みを抑えたシンプルな意匠とドーム風防の効果で、装着時には腕なじみの良さを感じられます。ダイヤルバリエーションが限られているのがRef.1018の特徴で、短めのバーインデックスと3・6・9の長いインデックスが絶妙な間隔を保ち、外周に半球状の夜光塗料が配され視認性を高めています。針は中央に稜線が入り、先端に夜光塗料が施されたクラシックな仕様。ブレスレットはリベットタイプのRef.7206、エンドリンク58、クラスプデイト67/1が装備されています。

ケースは使用傷の少ない良好なコンディションで、裏蓋側は爪痕がしっかりと残っています。ダイヤルは黒ずみが見られず、全体としてクリーンな印象。ごくわずかな隆起が確認できますが、着用時にほとんど気にならない程度です。針はくすみを帯びつつも輝きを保ち、インデックスはエイジングの進行が抑えられており、美しい状態を維持。針とインデックスに塗布された夜光塗料はベージュに変化しています。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

Though measuring a generous 36mm in diameter, the case wears comfortably on the wrist thanks to its slim profile and domed crystal, which soften its presence. One of the defining characteristics of the Ref. 1018 is its limited dial variation. The layout features shorter baton markers contrasted by elongated indices at 3, 6, and 9, all evenly spaced to create visual harmony. Half-spherical luminous plots around the periphery further enhance legibility. The hands are of a classic style with a central ridge and luminous-filled tips. This example is fitted with a riveted Ref. 7206 bracelet, 58 end links, and a clasp stamped 67/1.

The case remains in excellent condition with only minor signs of wear, and notable tool marks are still visible on the case back. The dial shows no signs of spotting or discoloration and retains a clean overall appearance. A subtle surface undulation is present but barely noticeable when worn. The hands show light patina yet retain their reflective brilliance, while the hour markers exhibit restrained aging, preserving their crisp edges. The luminous material on both hands and markers has aged to a warm beige hue. Fully disassembled and serviced by our watchmaker.

Sharing the same 36mm case size as the iconic Explorer Ref. 1016, the Ref. 1018 is a no-date automatic model that stands out for its understated simplicity. Within this case category, only two models—the Ref. 5504 "Big Air-King" and the present Ref. 1018—are known, making them exceedingly rare in the market. It houses the high-precision, chronometer-rated Cal. 1570 movement, a testament to Rolex's uncompromising approach to detail and performance.
