CARTIER LM VENDOME Tortoiseshell - Like Ref.590003

COMMENT

COMMENT

The dial, reminiscent of tortoiseshell, is composed of warm brown and black tones, beautifully accented with Roman numerals. A minute track runs precisely along the edge of the round case, tracing time like railway tracks around its perimeter. The pencil-style hands are simple yet refined, embodying Cartier’s signature elegance in design. The case is notably slim—an attribute made possible by the quartz movement within.

The case is in pristine condition, free from visible scratches, with the caseback retaining its original brushed finish and hallmarks clearly intact. As is common with this model, faint dial cracks are present but remain inconspicuous during wear. The hands retain their mirror-like luster, and the indexes show no signs of aging or discoloration, ensuring excellent legibility. Fully overhauled and serviced by our watchmaker.

One of Cartier’s iconic designs, the Vendôme is said to have been inspired when Louis Cartier passed through Place Vendôme in Paris by carriage and noticed the wheel’s attachment mechanism. According to legend, the American writer Ernest Hemingway was riding alongside him at the time. With a refined yet understated character, this watch adds quiet sophistication to any daily ensemble. A highly recommended piece for those seeking vintage Cartier with both elegance and heritage.

Though now renowned as a high jeweler, Cartier was one of the first to pioneer true wristwatch design, creating a men’s wristwatch as early as 1904—well before wristwatches became the norm.
