OMEGA SPEEDMASTER MARK 4.5 Ref.176.0012

COMMENT

Speedmaster Mark 4.5としてコレクターたちに呼ばれるRef.176.0012は、Mark IVのケースとMark Vのムーブメントの両方が採用された時計です。流線型のケースサイドがスポーティでありながらも、レーサー仕様の雰囲気を漂わせています。
このモデルは多機能な中4針時計で、センターの針はそれぞれ時分針、センタークロノ秒針、センタークロノ分針を示しています。ブラックマットのダイヤルには、6時位置が12時間積算系、9時位置が永久秒針、12時位置が24時間計で午前午後を一目で確認できるようなデザインが施されています。ブレスレットはRef.1162/072で、22mmから16mmまで強くテーパーの効いたデザインを持っています。搭載されているムーブメントはLemania 5100をベースにチューンナップされたCal.1045です。

ミントコンディションです。ケースは当時のプロポーションのままを保っています。ケースバックに保管に伴う小傷こそ見られるもの、ほとんど気になりません。インナーベゼルはブラックの色合いが濃く残り、みずみずしさを感じさせます。ダイヤルはパーフェクトな状態です。弊社にて分解掃除が施され、この状態が保たれています。

オメガに正式にMARK認定されたモデルではないものの、4.5として独自の人気を博したスピードマスターです。ほとんど使用感のない素晴らしいコンディションで、当時のスタイルを存分にお楽しみいただけます。この時計は稀有な存在であり、コレクションに加えるには理想的な一品です。

BRAND

今でこそ「Speedmasterイコール宇宙」という図式がすぐに浮かび上がりますが、初期の世代は宇宙とは全く関係のない、純粋なモータースポーツ用の時計として誕生。また、スピードマスターは、ダイヤルではなく外周ベゼルにタキメーターを表示した世界で初めての時計と言われています。1959年、スピードマスターはマイナーチェンジをします。ベゼルがアルミニウムの黒色ベースとなり、針の形状がアロー針からアルファ針に変更されたことで、より視認性が高まっています。NASAは宇宙での過酷な環境にも耐えうる丈夫なクロノグラフを探しており、名だたる強豪に勝ったスピードマスターを公式時計として採用。その後1969年人類初の月面着陸の際、スピードマスターを着用していたことは有名なお話。

COMMENT

The Ref.176.0012, known among collectors as the Speedmaster Mark 4.5, combines the case design of the Mark IV with the movement used in the Mark V. Its streamlined case profile gives the watch a sporty character, while also retaining the atmosphere of a driver’s chronograph from the period.

This model features a highly functional central four-hand layout. The central hands indicate the hours and minutes, along with the chronograph seconds and the central chronograph minute recorder. The matte black dial is arranged with a 12-hour chronograph recorder at 6 o’clock, running seconds at 9 o’clock, and a 24-hour indicator at 12 o’clock, allowing AM and PM to be read at a glance. The watch is fitted with a Ref.1162/072 bracelet, which has a strong taper from 22mm down to 16mm. Inside is the Cal.1045, based on the Lemania 5100.

This example is in mint condition. The case retains its original proportions from the period. There are minor storage marks on the caseback, but they are hardly noticeable. The inner bezel retains a deep black tone and has a fresh, well-preserved appearance. The dial is in perfect condition. Fully serviced by our watchmaker.

Although not officially designated by Omega as part of the Mark series, this Speedmaster has earned its own following as the Mark 4.5. With almost no signs of use, it remains in exceptional condition and offers a strong sense of the original style of the period. This is a rare and highly attractive example, making it an ideal piece to add to a collection.

BRAND

Today, the Speedmaster is immediately associated with space exploration, but the earliest generations were created purely as motorsport watches, with no connection to space at the time. The Speedmaster is also said to have been the first watch to feature a tachymeter scale on the outer bezel rather than on the dial. In 1959, the Speedmaster underwent a minor update: the bezel was changed to a black aluminum insert, and the hands were revised from broad arrow hands to alpha hands, improving legibility. When NASA began searching for a robust chronograph capable of withstanding the extreme conditions of space, the Speedmaster prevailed over several major competitors and was adopted as its official watch. It later became famous as the watch worn during mankind’s first moon landing in 1969.
