1950年代後期のエアキングですが、「Super Precision」の表記が省かれ、すっきりとしたフェイスに仕上がっています。針は視認性と造形美を兼ね備えたアルファハンドと、青焼きのテールドット秒針。インデックスはシャープなクサビ型を基調に、3・6・9時位置には長く多面カットされたパーツを用い、立体感のある表情をつくり出しています。装着されているリベット式オイスターブレスレットは、エンドリンク57／クラスプデイト72の組み合わせです。

ケースは使用傷の少ない良好なコンディションで、全体として厚みのあるフォルムを保っています。ダイヤルは経年により淡くオレンジがかったトーンへと変化しており、温かみのあるパティナが広がっています。10時方向はうっすらと針焼けが見られますが、風合いとして自然な印象です。針とインデックスはわずかなくすみが感じられますが、夜光塗料とともにベージュにエイジングし、全体の統一感を高めています。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

インデックスの複雑な造形は、この時代のダイヤル製造技術の高さを物語るものです。1950年代までに見られる凝った意匠は今日では再現されることがなく、年々市場でも出会いが難しくなってきています。美しくエイジングしたパティナとともに、ヴィンテージの奥行きを存分に味わえる一本です。

COMMENT

This late 1950s Air-King features a clean and refined dial design, notably omitting the "Super Precision" designation that is commonly seen on models of the era. The watch is fitted with alpha hands, balancing legibility and elegance, and a blued steel teardrop-style seconds hand. The indices are primarily sharp faceted wedges, with elongated, multi-faceted markers at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock, adding depth and dimensionality to the dial. It is paired with a riveted Oyster bracelet featuring end links stamped “57” and a clasp dated “72”.

The case remains in excellent condition with minimal signs of wear, preserving its original thickness and sharp contours. The dial has aged into a warm, slightly orange-tinged hue, giving the watch a welcoming patina. A faint trace of hand burn is visible near the 10 o’clock marker, though it integrates naturally with the vintage character. The hands and indices show minimal tarnishing and have developed a beige tone in their luminous material, contributing to a cohesive and balanced aesthetic. Fully serviced by our workshop.

The intricate construction of the hour markers speaks to the remarkable dial manufacturing standards of the time.
