ブラックダイヤルに配された、レターやライン、チャプターリングは、全てギルト。サークルラインは3重で4つのセクターは独特な意匠。チャプターリングの内側はセミグロス、外周とスモールセコンドの目盛りは艶々のミラー仕上げとなっており、よく観察しないと気が付かない手の込んだツートーン仕様が、当時の高コストモデルであることを物語っています。針は菱形のリーフハンドを採用。バックルは、当時オメガが正式採用していたものが付属します。

搭載ムーブメントのCal.26.5は、30mmキャリバー登場以前のオメガを支えた代表的な手巻きムーブメントです。センターセコンド仕様や耐震機構付きのバリエーションも存在し、この時代としては非常に高い安定性と信頼性を備えた設計となっていました。

ケースは使用に伴う微細なスレが見られますが、ラグのエッジは明瞭に保たれています。ダイヤルは気になるような大きな傷はなく、セミグロスとミラーの仕上げをしっかりと残し、ブラックミラーの艶とギルトレターのコントラストが鮮烈な印象を与えます。針はわずかなくすみこそ見られますが、当時のメッキが良好に残り、視認性・質感ともに高い状態を維持しています。弊社にて分解掃除済みです。

1939年に30mmキャリバーが発表される直前に製造された一本です。最大の特徴は、1930年代後半のモデルとしては極めて異例な、37mm径のジャンボ・カラトラバケースを採用している点にあります。当時、一般的なメンズサイズが30mm前後であったことを踏まえると、このサイズは希少であり、特別な意図で製造されたことがうかがえます。また、変わり種のダイヤルや針といったディテールは、オメガが限られた顧客のために用意した仕様だったことを示しています。コレクターズピースとしてのみならず、オメガの歴史の語り部としても申し分のない一本です。

COMMENT

The letters, lines, and chapter ring on the black dial are all gilt. The circle line is triple and the four sectors have a unique design. The inside of the chapter ring is semi-gloss, while the outer periphery and the small second scale are glossy mirror finish. The elaborate two-tone design, which is difficult to notice unless you look closely, shows that it was a high-cost model at the time. The hands are diamond-shaped leaf hands. The buckle is the one that Omega officially adopted at the time.

The movement, Cal.26.5, is a typical hand-wound movement that supported Omega before the introduction of the 30mm caliber. There were also variations with center seconds and shock-resistant mechanisms, and it was designed with extremely high stability and reliability for that era.

The case shows fine scratches due to use, but the edges of the lugs are clearly maintained. The dial has no major scratches that are of concern, and the semi-gloss and mirror finishes remain firmly intact, and the contrast between the gloss of the black mirror and the gilded letters makes a striking impression. Although the hands are slightly dull, the original plating remains in good condition, and both visibility and texture are maintained in high condition. It has been disassembled and cleaned by our company.

This watch was manufactured just before the 30mm caliber was released in 1939. Its biggest feature is that it uses a 37mm jumbo Calatrava case, which is extremely unusual for a model from the late 1930s. Considering that the general men's size at the time was around 30mm, this size is rare and it can be seen that it was manufactured with special intention. Although it is the foundation of the technological innovation that followed the later 30mm caliber series, the details such as the jumbo case, unusual dial and hands indicate that it was a special specification prepared by Omega for a limited number of customers at the time. It is not only a collector's piece, but also an excellent piece to tell the story of Omega's history.
