本品は希少なNEW OLD STOCK（未使用品）であり、当時の製造品質や仕上げを今に伝える資料的価値の高い一本です。ケースはラグのエッジに鋭さを残し、側面および上面に見られる保管傷は最小限にとどまっています。ダイヤルのマットブラックはエイジングによる変化が一切なく、落ち着いた色調を維持。針はわずかなくすみが見られるものの、鏡面の輝きをしっかりと保っており、針・インデックスに施された夜光塗料は当時のままのホワイトを維持しています。

1960年代は、機械式腕時計の完成期とも言える時代であり、セイコーは精度競技と量産技術の両面において世界水準を超える成果を挙げました。その一方で、1969年には世界初のクオーツ腕時計「アストロン」を発表し、機械式からクオーツへの大きな転換点となりました。植村ダイバーは、まさにこの転換期に誕生した象徴的なモデルであり、日本の時計史における技術的頂点のひとつといえる存在です。

This particular piece is a rare New Old Stock (NOS) example, offering significant archival value as a representation of the manufacturing standards and finishing quality of its era. The case retains sharp edges at the lugs, with only minimal storage marks visible along the flanks and upper surfaces. Both the bezel and matte black dial show no signs of aging or discoloration, maintaining their original depth and tone. The hands exhibit only minor patina while preserving their mirrored finish, and the luminous material on the hands and indices remains a bright white, just as it was when first produced.

The 1960s marked the pinnacle of mechanical watchmaking, a time when Seiko demonstrated world-class achievements in both precision and mass production. In 1969, Seiko also introduced the Astron—the world’s first quartz wristwatch—heralding a major shift from mechanical to quartz timekeeping.
