COMMENT

1960年代初頭のロレックス オイスターパーペチュアル デイト Ref.1500、通称「浮きROLEX」です。文字盤上の「ROLEX」はプリントではなく、金属製の文字を取り付けたアプライド仕様。通常より大きく立体的なロゴが、初期モデルらしい特徴となっています。電着塗装によるホワイトダイヤルには鋭いクサビ型インデックスとドーフィンハンドを配置。12時位置の王冠ロゴも中央に稜線を設け、左右でファセットを切り替えた手の込んだ造形です。純正リベットオイスターブレスレットを装着し、エンドリンクは57、クラスプコードは3/60です。

ホワイトダイヤルは穏やかなアイボリー調へ変化し、細かな経年は見られるものの、アプライドロゴやインデックス、針の立体感は良好に保たれています。ケースもラグの輪郭を残した良好なプロポーションです。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

ムーブメントは26石の自動巻クロノメーターCal.1560を搭載。初期のRef.1500を代表する堅牢なキャリバーで、デイト表示を備えながら実用性にも優れています。重要なポイントは、先端ではなく後端に丸いドットを備えた、オリジナルのブルースチール製テールドット秒針が現存していることです。交換されやすい部品であり、ビッグロゴダイヤルと組み合わされた当時の姿を保っていることは、この個体の評価において欠かせません。ビッグロゴ、クサビインデックス、ドーフィンハンド、青焼きのテールドット秒針が揃った、初期型ならではのディテールを色濃く残す一本です。

COMMENT

Dating from the early 1960s, this Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date Ref. 1500 is known among Japanese collectors as the “Floating ROLEX.” Rather than being printed, the “ROLEX” signature is formed from individually applied metal letters. Larger and more dimensional than the conventional printed signature, it is a distinctive feature of early examples. The electroplated white dial is fitted with sharp wedge-shaped indexes and dauphine hands. The applied coronet at 12 o’clock is equally detailed, with a central ridge separating its contrasting facets. The watch is fitted with an original riveted Oyster bracelet, featuring No. 57 end links and a 3/60 clasp code.

The white dial has aged to a soft ivory tone and displays minor signs of age, while the applied signature, indexes, and hands retain their well-defined three-dimensional form. The case also retains good proportions, with the contours of the lugs remaining clearly defined. Fully serviced by our watchmaker.

Inside is the 26-jewel automatic chronometer-rated Cal. 1560, a robust movement characteristic of early Ref. 1500 models and equipped with a practical date display. An important detail is the original blued steel “tail-dot” seconds hand, distinguished by a circular counterweight at its rear rather than at the tip. As these hands were frequently replaced, its survival alongside the large applied-logo dial is significant to the preservation of the watch’s original appearance. With its oversized applied signature, wedge-shaped indexes, dauphine hands, and blued tail-dot seconds hand, this example retains the defining details of the early reference.
