COMMENT

ゼニスのクロノメーター・ポートロイヤルです。ケースは防水性を考慮したスナップバック構造で、ケースバックに「WATERPROOF」の刻印が見て取れます。文字盤はグレーカラーでゼニスらしい怪しさが感じられる、精巧に作り込まれた意匠。ツートンダイアルで、内側は縦ヘアライン、外側は同心円のヘアラインを施しています。製作者のセンスによるものでしょうか、12.3.9のインデックス周りの鏡面仕上げは独自のラインを描いており、とても70年前のデザインだとは思えない造形をしています。バーインデックスとペンシルハンドの組み合わせはティピカルなもので、中央上に位置するアプライドのワンスターをより引き立てています。

搭載キャリバー135は1949年から1961年の間に約11000個生産されたムーブメント。初期は金メッキ仕上げですが、後期はコートドジュネーブ仕上げに代わる為、こちらは1950年代後期の製品となります。クロノメーター規格である30mm径以下の制約で、精度を司るテン輪を大きくするために、通常とは歯車の配置をも変えた特別なムーブメント。史上最高の手巻き機械との呼び声も高い。

ケースは研磨歴の感じられない素晴らしいプロポーションをしています。ラグの小さな面は揃い、エッジが効いています。ケースバックの刻印は擦れが見当たりません。希少な個体のため大切にされてきたことでしょう。ダイアルはパーフェクトです。人工的な造形に自然劣化は見られず、当時の質感をそのままに残しています。ツートンの内側には油膜のような虹色の光彩を残しています。

機械式時計の名機エル・プリメロで知られるスイスのブランド。1865年スイスのル・ロックルにて創業、「天頂」をブランド名称の由来とし、ムーブメントの開発および製造を自社で一貫して行っているマニュファクチュールブランド。その技術力の高さは、博覧会などで獲得した2000を超える賞の数々が物語っています。

This is the Zenith Chronometer Port Royal. The case features a snap-back structure designed for water resistance, with the "WATERPROOF" engraving visible on the case back. The grey dial exudes the mysterious aura typical of Zenith, intricately crafted with attention to detail. The two-tone dial has vertical hairline finishing on the inner part and concentric circular hairline finishing on the outer part. The mirror finish around the indices at 12, 3, and 9 adds a unique touch to the design, making it hard to believe it's a creation from 70 years ago. The combination of bar indices and pencil hands is typical, enhancing the central applied one-star marker.

The Calibre 135 movement, produced between 1949 and 1961 with approximately 11,000 units made, underwent changes in finishing from gold-plated in the early period to Côtes de Genève finishing in the later period, making this one from the late 1950s. Despite the constraint of being under 30mm in diameter, a requirement for chronometer standards, this special movement altered the gear layout to increase the size of the balance wheel, earning it the reputation of one of the finest hand-wound movements ever.

The case boasts an excellent proportion without any signs of polishing. The small facets of the lugs are uniform, and the edges are sharp. There are no signs of wear on the case back engraving, indicating careful preservation of this rare piece. The dial is flawless, showing no signs of artificial aging, preserving the texture of the era. A rainbow-like iridescence remains on the inner part of the two-tone dial.

Founded in 1865 in Le Locle, Switzerland, with "Zenith" meaning "the highest point" as its brand name, it is a manufacture brand that handles the development and manufacturing of movements in-house.
