COMMENT

35mmのラウンドケースは、立体的に張り出したファンシー・ステップラグを備え、個性的なシルエットを形成しています。ダイヤルは複数の装飾技法を几帳面に積み重ねた、密度の高いギョーシェ。中央は縦方向の太いラインと細いラインを交互に重ねて面を整え、光を受けたときの反射を均一に揃えています。外周にはパールドロップ状のミニッツドットを等間隔に配した帯が巡り、内側にはより細やかな粒状の彫りを加えることで、中央のストライプとの境界を美しく切り分けています。ロゴのレター周辺はあえて彫りを止め、文字が面から浮き上がるように見せる処理が施されており、当時のヴァシュロン・コンスタンタンらしい凝った意匠です。時分針は幅の狭いペンシル型を採用し、華やかなダイヤルの中でもミニマルで緊張感のあるバランスを保っています。ブルースチールの秒針はテール部分をやや太めに設計しており、繊細さと力強さが同居しています。

ケースのプロポーションは素晴らしく、保管に伴うごく小さな擦れは見受けられるものの、打痕のような目立つダメージはありません。素材の良さと丁寧な取り扱いがうかがえます。ダイヤルはミントコンディション。ギョーシェダイヤルは経年変化によりシミや焼けが見られる個体も少なくありませんが、本品は当時の色味を極めて良好に保っています。針はヤレがなく瑞々しい状態を維持し、インデックスも艶やかな表情を損なっていません。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

1950年代当時、ヴァシュロン・コンスタンタンはごく限られた富裕層のみに所有を許された存在でした。製造本数の少なさに加え、多くのモデルが金無垢ケースで製造されていた点からも、その希少性がうかがえます。本品はその中でも、一般的なケースデザインとは一線を画すファンシー・ステップラグと、ローズエンジン旋盤によって手作業で彫られたギョーシェダイヤルを備えた特別な仕様。ラグは裏蓋のラインよりも下へ張り出しており、立体的な造形美がいっそう強調されています。

18世紀中頃創業のヴァシュロン・コンスタンタン。日本では誤訳により長い間バセロン・コンスタンチンの呼称で愛されていました。キャビノチェの精神に受け継ぐ世界最古の高級時計ブランドです。キャビノチェは、照明装置の乏しかった当時、技術の高い職人は明かりを求めて屋根裏部屋（キャビネット）に工房を設けており、人々は彼らに敬意を表してキャビノチェと呼んでいたことが語源です。マルタ十字のクロスをブランドロゴに掲げ、高く洗練された優れた技術力によって生み出された名品はコレクターも多く、世界中から高い評価を得ています。 

COMMENT

The 35mm round case is distinguished by sculptural, outward-projecting fancy step lugs that create a highly individual silhouette. The dial is an exceptionally dense guilloché, composed through the careful layering of multiple decorative techniques. At the center, alternating wide and fine vertical lines are precisely arranged to create an even surface that reflects light uniformly. Surrounding this is a band of evenly spaced, pearl-drop minute dots, while the inner perimeter is finished with a finer, granular engraving that clearly and elegantly separates it from the central striping. Around the logo lettering, the engraving is intentionally stopped, allowing the text to appear subtly raised from the surface—an elaborate detail characteristic of Vacheron Constantin’s work of the period. Slim pencil-style hour and minute hands maintain a restrained, taut balance against the richly ornamented dial. The blued steel seconds hand is designed with a slightly thicker tail, combining delicacy with a sense of strength.

The case proportions are excellent. Aside from very minor marks consistent with careful storage, there are no noticeable dents or damage, reflecting both the quality of the material and the watch’s gentle handling over time. The dial is in mint condition. Guilloché dials often show spotting or discoloration with age, but this example preserves its original tone remarkably well. The hands show no signs of deterioration and retain a fresh appearance, while the applied elements maintain their lustrous expression. Fully serviced by our watchmaker.

In the 1950s, Vacheron Constantin watches were owned by only a very limited circle of affluent clients. Their rarity is underscored not only by low production numbers but also by the fact that many models were crafted in solid gold. This piece stands out even among those, featuring fancy step lugs that differ markedly from more conventional case designs, together with a guilloché dial engraved by hand on a rose engine lathe. The lugs extend below the line of the caseback, further emphasizing the three-dimensional sculptural quality of the case.
