GUILLOCHÉ
This collection brings together vintage watches with guilloché dials, decorated with finely engraved geometric patterns. Radial, grid-like, wave, and other repeating motifs interact with the light to create shifting shadows and a sense of depth quite different from a flat dial surface.
Particularly from the late 1940s through the 1950s, guilloché was widely used as a decorative element on dress-watch dials. Variations in the fineness and placement of the pattern, together with the relationship between the engraving and the indexes, reveal the richness and diversity of period watch design.
