機械式時計最盛期、1965年製のデイデイトです。金無垢とプラチナのみで展開されているデイデイトは、フルスペルで曜日が表示される初のモデルでした。18金無垢のオイスターケースはフルーテッドベゼルの輝きが美しく、重厚感があります。針はデイデイト専用針です。交換されているものが多い中、この針が付いていることは重要なポイントです。ダイヤルはティピカルなサンレイ仕上げ、シンプルな仕上げにより素材の良さを強調させます。

搭載ムーブメントはデイデイト専用Cal.1555。テンワの慣性モーメントを調整することで、時計の進み遅れを調整する「フリースプラング」を採用。ひげぜんまいへの余計な負荷が少なく、長期的に精度安定、等時性安定を実現できます。

ケースは使用傷が多少ありますが、ラグがたくましくプロポーションに優れています。2時のラグ裏のホールマークがしっかりと視認できるのがポイントです。ダイヤルは極めてミントなコンディションです。この年式のデイデイトで、ダイヤルの状態が良いものは多くはありません。当時のヘアラインによる質感をそのままに残しています。当時のオリジナル針とインデックスは上面の鏡面仕上げが煌びやかに輝きます。6.9のインデックスは上面の仕上げが幅広なので、コンディションの良さは重要なポイントです。弊社にて分解掃除済みで、パワーリザーブ48時間以上を確認しています。

デイデイトは1956年の発表当時、日付と曜日を表示する世界初の防水性能を備えたクロノメーター自動巻時計でした。ROLEXから35代目アメリカ大統領のアイゼンハワー氏に贈呈されたことを始め、現在でも最高のステータスウォッチとしての地位を確立しています。

This is a 1965 Day-Date model, manufactured during the heyday of mechanical watches. The Day-Date, available only in solid gold and platinum, was the first model to display the day of the week in full spellings. Its 18k solid gold Oyster case with a fluted bezel exudes a beautiful shine and a sense of weightiness. The hands are specific to the Day-Date, a crucial detail considering many have been replaced over time. The dial features a typical sunray finish, emphasizing the quality of the material through its simplicity.

It houses the Day-Date exclusive Caliber 1555 movement. By adjusting the inertia moment of the balance wheel, it employs the "free-sprung" mechanism to regulate the watch's timing accuracy. This results in minimal additional load on the mainspring, ensuring long-term precision stability and isochronism.

While the case shows some signs of wear, the lugs are sturdy and well-proportioned. A key feature is the clearly visible hallmark on the back of the lug at 2 o'clock. The dial is in an exceptionally mint condition. It's rare to find a Day-Date from this era with such a pristine dial. The original hands and indexes, with their mirror finish on the surface, gleam brightly. The 6 and 9 indexes have a wide mirror finish on the surface, making the condition of these components crucial. It has been disassembled and cleaned by our company, confirming a power reserve of over 48 hours.

The Day-Date was the world's first waterproof chronometer wristwatch to display both the date and day when it was introduced in 1956. From being presented to the 35th President of the United States, Eisenhower, Rolex's Day-Date has established its position as the ultimate status watch even today.
