オメガの伝説、スピードマスターRef.105.012です。NASAによる正式採用モデルとなり、「PROFESSIONAL」の名が文字盤に登場しました。この個体の希少なポイントは、セントラル・ボワテ（CB=Centrale Boites）製ケースであることです。ツイストラグは後年のものと比べ、エッジが一筋多い仕上がりとなっています。ステップダイヤルやアプライドのΩロゴも相まって、最もハイコストでエッジの効いたデザインのスピードマスターといえるでしょう。さらに、希少なパルセーションベゼルを装備しています。

ケースには保管に伴う傷が見られる程度で、目立つ損傷はありません。CBケース特有のラグのエッジが良好に残っており、磨きが入ってしまうと消えるため重要なポイントです。ベゼルは美しい退色を見せています。半ツヤのブラックダイヤルはブラウンに変色しており、「トロピカル」と呼ばれる特別なエイジングとして評価が高いです。ルミナスは理想的なベージュカラーを呈しています。弊社にて分解掃除済みです。

Ref.105.003からのアップグレード点として、リューズガードが付いたことでケースが左右非対称となり、ラグもツイストしたデザインに変更されました。Ref.145.022との主な違いは、文字盤のΩがアプライドであること、ムーブメントにCal.321が搭載されていることです。Cal.321は後継のCal.861のカム式と異なり、ピラーホイール式を採用し、チラネジテンプレートと巻き上げヒゲも備えた高級仕様です。これこそが真のスピードマスターの魅力です。

今でこそ「Speedmasterイコール宇宙」という図式がすぐに浮かび上がりますが、当時は宇宙とは全く関係のない、純粋なモータースポーツ用の時計として誕生。また、スピードマスターは、ダイヤルではなく外周ベゼルにタキメーターを表示した世界で初めての時計と言われています。1959年、スピードマスターはマイナーチェンジをします。ベゼルがアルミニウムの黒色ベースとなり、針の形状がアロー針からアルファ針に変更されたことで、より視認性が高まっています。NASAは宇宙での過酷な環境にも耐えうる丈夫なクロノグラフを探しており、名だたる強豪に勝ったスピードマスターを公式時計として採用。その後1969年人類初の月面着陸の際、スピードマスターを着用していたことは有名な話。

Here we have the legendary Omega Speedmaster Ref. 105.012, the very model officially adopted by NASA, marking the first appearance of "PROFESSIONAL" on the dial. This particular piece features a rare CB (Centrale Boites) case, with twisted lugs showcasing an extra edge compared to later versions. Complemented by a stepped dial and an applied Ω logo, this Speedmaster epitomizes the high-cost, sharply-defined design for which the line is renowned. Adding to its rarity, it also sports a pulsation bezel.

The case shows only minor storage marks, with no notable damage. The CB case-specific sharp edges on the lugs are well-preserved, an important detail as these edges are often lost during polishing. The bezel exhibits a beautiful patina, enhancing its vintage appeal. The semi-gloss black dial has aged to a tropical brown hue, a rare and prized type of patina highly sought after by collectors. The luminous material displays an ideal beige color, complementing the overall aesthetic. The watch has been fully disassembled and serviced by our team.

Upgraded from Ref. 105.003, this model features an asymmetric case with crown guards and newly twisted lugs. It differs from Ref. 145.022 by its applied Ω logo and the iconic Cal. 321 movement. Unlike its successor Cal. 861, which is cam-operated, Cal. 321 is column-wheel driven, featuring a screw balance and overcoil hairspring for a high-end configuration. These specifications capture the essence of the true Speedmaster legacy.

While today the phrase "Speedmaster equals space" is immediately conjured, it was originally conceived as a pure motorsports watch with no ties to space. Additionally, the Speedmaster is renowned for being the first watch to display a tachymeter on the external bezel rather than the dial. In 1959, it underwent a minor change, transitioning to an aluminum black base for the bezel and changing the shape of the hands from arrow to alpha, enhancing visibility. NASA sought a robust chronograph capable of withstanding the harsh conditions of space, and the Speedmaster triumphed over formidable competitors to become the official watch. The famous tale of the Speedmaster being worn during the first moon landing in 1969 further solidified its status.
