OMEGA Seamaster Tapestry Dial Ref.14744-1SC

COMMENT

COMMENT

The integrated case and lugs form a smooth, seamless silhouette that gives this piece a solid, grounded presence. A sharply faceted edge separates the brushed top surface from the polished sides, creating a distinctive detail that sets this particular execution apart—even within the same reference. The glossy black mirror dial features a central crosshair design, with both the cross and the text rendered in a recessed relief, achieving a refined balance of clarity and design. There is no luminous material present; instead, visibility is ensured by the black-printed centers of the hands and indexes, providing effective contrast. The bracelet is fitted with end links stamped “4” and a clasp marked “60/1.”

Inside beats the robust and beautifully finished Cal. 503, a member of Omega’s esteemed 500-series movements. With its copper-hued mainplate and proven reliability, this caliber is prized by collectors and ideal for everyday wear.

While the case shows some light signs of use, it retains an overall well-preserved appearance. The acrylic crystal is minimally marked, ensuring an unobstructed view of the dial. The dial itself shows subtle aging with partial exposure of the base metal, adding an authentic vintage character. The hands exhibit faint oxidation, which only enhances the classic mood of the watch. The indexes remain bright and reflective, lending a crisp edge to the overall presentation. Fully disassembled and serviced by our workshop.

What truly sets this example apart is the case architecture. While this reference is typically defined by its smooth, monocoque-style lugs, this particular piece features a unique ridge line running along the lower case flank—elegantly aligned with the silhouette of the case. This subtle yet distinctive detail adds personality to an otherwise disciplined design, placing it among the more compelling variations within the Seamaster line.
