1978年から発表されたサントスシリーズ。角形のサントス、オクタゴン、ラウンドの3形状の展開から、代表的なコンビのサントスRef.2961です。1987年に切り替わったガルベと比べ、平面カットされたブレスレットが装備されています。ダイヤルはポーセリンカラー。カルティエのアイコニックなローマ数字とミニッツトラック、ブルースチールのバトン針が組み合わされています。自動巻ムーブメントであるCal.2671を搭載しています。

ケースは未仕上げです。傷は少なく、当時のプロポーションを保っており評価できます。ホワイトダイヤルは大変ミントです。オリジナルのノンクラックダイヤルで、大変希少です。ブルースチールの針にエイジングがなく、深みのある青色を残しています。弊社にて分解掃除済みですので、コレクションにも、実用でも使用できます。

ビス留めのケースは飛行機のパーツを繋ぐネジがモチーフで、機体をイメージしてダイヤルなどの角がまるみを帯びたデザイン。現在ではジュエラーとして名高いカルティエですが、まだ懐中時計が主流だった1904年に本格的な腕時計を製作したのはカルティエが最初。アルベルト・サントス・デュモンという飛行家からの「飛行中に手を離さずに見ることができる時計がほしい。」という依頼が誕生のきっかけで、「サントス」の名を冠した腕時計が1911年に一般発売されました。

The Santos series, introduced in 1978, included three distinct case shapes: the square Santos, octagonal, and round. The featured model, Santos Ref. 2961, is a classic two-tone variant. Released in 1987, it comes equipped with a flat-cut bracelet, differing from the more curved "Galbée" style introduced later. The dial is a striking porcelain color, adorned with Cartier’s iconic Roman numerals, a minute track, and blue-steel baton hands. Inside, it houses the automatic Cal. 2671 movement.

The case remains unpolished, showing minimal wear and maintaining its original proportions—a testament to its well-preserved state. The white dial is exceptionally mint, without any cracks, making it a rare find. The blued-steel hands retain their deep, vibrant hue, free from any signs of aging. The watch has been fully serviced and is ready for either collection or daily use.

The screw-fastened case, inspired by the rivets used in airplane construction, ties in with the softly rounded design elements of the dial, evoking the form of an aircraft. Cartier's rich variety of design sources is both impressive and unmistakable.
