CARTIER LM SANTOS OCTAGON Automatic Ref.2966

COMMENT

COMMENT

Produced in the 1980s, the Santos Octagon is distinguished by its signature eight-sided bezel—a hallmark of the model's era that ended around 1990, giving it an unmistakably vintage charm. The lacquered white dial has a porcelain-like finish, beautifully accented by a combination of a minute track, Roman numerals, and a circular chapter ring. Blued steel baton hands pair harmoniously with the cabochon-set crown, resulting in a well-balanced and elegant design. It is powered by the reliable automatic Caliber 2671.

The case remains in excellent condition with minimal signs of wear, giving it a crisp and clean presence. The dial shows faint hairline cracks, typical of vintage lacquer dials, but they are subtle and do not detract from legibility. The blued hands retain their luster, adding a refined visual element as they sweep across the dial. The Roman numerals are crisp and intact, showing no signs of flaking or loss. The watch has been fully disassembled and serviced by our team for worry-free use.

The flat-cut bracelet sparkles vividly in sunlight, evoking the look and feel of a high-end bangle. The LM-sized Santos Octagon has become increasingly difficult to find in recent years—especially in automatic form, which is notably rare. This is a superb opportunity to own a piece with both elegance and historical significance.

BRAND

The “Santos” collection began when aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont asked Cartier to create a timepiece that allowed him to check the time while flying—thus giving birth to one of the world’s first pilot’s watches. Among the variations, the octagonal “Santos Octagon” stands out for its sharply faceted bezel and reflective bracelet links that shimmer with movement. A model that blends simplicity with elegance, it remains a distinctive icon within the Cartier legacy.
