COMMENT

ホイヤー社が1960年前後に製造したクロノグラフで、1963年に登場する旗艦「カレラ」へとつながる前史を感じさせるモデルです。通称“スピリノ”と呼ばれるマイクロプッシャー仕様で、スクリューバックを備えた希少な防水ケース。ラグとケースが一体となった34mm径のカラトラバタイプで、コンパクトながら輪郭がはっきりした造形です。ダイヤルはブラックミラーで、インダイヤルは通常より大ぶりなビッグアイ。ドーフィンハンド、アプライドのバーインデックス、そしてギルトレターの配置が緻密で、黒の艶とシルバーのコントラストが見事にまとまっています。ムーブメントはValjoux 23を搭載しています。

ケースは使用感が薄く、プロポーションの崩れが見られない素晴らしい状態です。小傷は最小限で、全体の輪郭がきれいに残っています。ブラックミラーダイヤルは経年によりブラウンへと変化しており、やや斑のあるエイジングがかえって表情を深めています。ミラーの艶はしっかり残り、光の当たり方で陰影が豊かに変わります。針とインデックスはくすみが少なく、金属面の輝きが素直です。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

このモデルは、のちに訪れる1960〜70年代のホイヤースポーツ黄金期の前段にあたる存在で、同時代の強豪であるロンジンやユニバーサルに肩を並べるだけの品質と意匠が備わっています。スクリューバックの防水ケースに、操作性に優れたマイクロプッシャーを組み合わせた構成は、当時におけるハイエンドの発想そのもの。カレラ誕生以前のホイヤーが、実用性とデザインを高い次元で両立させようとしていたことが、ディテールの随所から伝わります。

COMMENT

This chronograph was produced by Heuer around 1960 and represents a formative prehistory leading to the brand’s flagship Carrera, introduced in 1963. Known by the nickname “Spirino,” it features the distinctive micro-pusher configuration and a rare waterproof screw-back case. The 34mm Calatrava-style case integrates the lugs and case body into a single flowing form, compact in size yet clearly defined in silhouette. The dial is a black mirror finish with oversized “big-eye” subdials, larger than typically seen. Dauphine hands, applied bar indices, and finely arranged gilt lettering are executed with great precision, creating a striking harmony between glossy black and silver tones. The movement is the Valjoux 23, a highly respected classic chronograph caliber.

The case shows minimal signs of wear and remains in outstanding condition, with its proportions fully intact and only minor surface marks. The black mirror dial has naturally aged toward a warm brown tone, with subtle mottling that adds depth and character. The glossy mirror surface remains well preserved, producing rich tonal variations depending on the light. The hands and indices show little oxidation, retaining a clean metallic brilliance. This model belongs to the period just before Heuer’s golden era of sports chronographs in the 1960s–70s, yet already demonstrates a level of quality and design that stands alongside contemporaries such as Longines and Universal Genève. The combination of a waterproof screw-back case with highly operable micro pushers reflects the high-end technical thinking of the era. Long before the birth of the Carrera, this watch clearly shows Heuer’s ambition to unite practicality and refined design at a very high level, a philosophy evident in every detail.
