オフホワイトのダイヤルにブラックプリントのローマンインデックスを配し、内側にミニッツトラックが設けられています。ブルースチール製のバトンハンドを備え、リューズは先の尖ったスピネルのカボションがあしらわれています。ゴールドケースに対して、ブラック、ホワイト、ブルーの配色が対比を生み出す構成です。

ダイヤルはクラックがなく、全体として優れた保存状態を保っています。インデックスには剥がれや欠けが見られず、表面にはしっとりとした質感が残されています。針のブルースチールは退色が見られず、鮮やかな色合いを維持。ケースには微細な使用傷こそありますが、目立つダメージはなく、整った印象を保っています。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

「must」表記が入る直前の時期に製造された、いわゆる“プレマスト”と呼ばれるタンクモデルです。初代タンクのデザインを踏襲しつつ、リューズには円錐形状のスピネルが用いられ、当時EU圏向けに展開されたスタイルであったことから“ヨーロピアンスタイル”とも呼ばれています。長い歴史を持つタンクシリーズの中でも、本モデルは過渡期の意匠が色濃く残されており、コレクションとしての価値も高い一本です。

BRAND

現在では、ジュエラーとして名高いカルティエですが、まだ懐中時計が主流だった1904年に本格的な腕時計を製作したのはカルティエが最初でした。「タンク」という名前は、“戦車”を意味し、第一次世界大戦中の終結に貢献したといわれる、ルノー製の戦車がデザインの基となっています。

COMMENT

The off-white dial features black-printed Roman numerals with a minute track set inside the chapter ring. It is fitted with blued steel baton hands and a cabochon-cut spinel crown. The contrast between the gold case and the black, white, and blue elements creates a striking visual balance.

The dial shows no cracks and remains in excellent preserved condition overall. The indices are intact without flaking or loss, and the surface retains a soft, refined texture. The blued steel hands have not faded and still display vivid coloration. The case shows only minimal signs of wear with no notable damage, preserving a clean and well-kept impression. Fully serviced by our workshop.

This model is known as a "pre-Must" Tank—produced just before Cartier began using the “must” designation. It retains the design language of the original Tank, with a conical spinel crown typical of styles distributed to the European market at the time, earning it the nickname “European Style.” Among the long and storied Tank lineage, this piece stands out for its transitional design elements, making it a highly collectible example.

BRAND

Today, Cartier is globally renowned as a jeweler, but it was among the very first to produce a true wristwatch in 1904—at a time when pocket watches still dominated. The "Tank" was named after the Renault tanks used during World War I, which inspired its design and symbolized the hope of peace at the war’s end.
