ETERNA Kontiki 1st Ref.130T No Date

COMMENT

COMMENT

The lugs are defined by sharp ridgelines that accentuate their three-dimensional presence, while their seamless connection creates a fluid silhouette. At the center of the black mirror dial lies a pearl minute track, framed by a disciplined arrangement of baton indexes. At 3, 6, 9, and 12 o’clock, bold triangular markers form a distinctive design code that has come to symbolize the KonTiki. Dauphine hands, heavily filled with luminous material, provide strong legibility.

This example represents the first-generation, no-date version of the Eterna-Matic “KonTiki.” Introduced in 1958 and inspired by the 1947 KonTiki expedition, the model embodies Eterna’s pioneering spirit, combining robust waterproof construction with reliable engineering. Early no-date versions of the KonTiki were produced in smaller numbers, making them rarer than later variations and underscoring their enduring appeal and significance for collectors.

Thank you very much for your purchase at the recent watch fair held in Ginza.

Eterna stands as one of Switzerland’s foremost manufacturers, rivaling Longines and Omega. Originally founded as a movement manufacturer, the company distinguished itself with exceptional technical expertise and production capability, later earning renown as a producer of complete timepieces. Its most celebrated achievement is the introduction of the ball-bearing mounted rotor—the “Eterna-Matic”—which dramatically improved the smoothness and efficiency of automatic winding. This innovation drew worldwide attention and secured Eterna’s reputation as a true pioneer of Swiss watchmaking.
