OMEGA Ref.14707 18K Yellow Gold

COMMENT

COMMENT

This Omega dress watch is powered by the renowned 30 mm caliber and housed in an 18K solid yellow gold Calatrava-style case. The design is clean and restrained, with no superfluous elements. The bezel features sharply defined faceted edges, adding a subtle sense of tension to the slim profile. Alpha hands are paired with simple bar indexes, and the absence of luminous material further enhances the watch’s quiet elegance and refined character.

The case shows almost no signs of wear and remains in excellent condition, entirely appropriate for a dress watch of this caliber. The faceted lugs and mirror-polished bezel reflect light beautifully, giving the watch a discreet yet distinguished presence on the wrist. The dial is in mint condition. The hands retain their original luster without any dulling, and the indexes remain crisp and well defined. The multi-faceted details shift in appearance depending on the angle of light, creating a subtle three-dimensional effect. Fully serviced by our watchmaker.

Slim, well balanced, and composed, this piece offers the robustness and ease of use for which the 30 mm caliber is celebrated. Within its understated design, the quality of materials and the excellence of the finishing are quietly concentrated, making it an ideal dress watch to be enjoyed calmly and for many years to come.

From the 1910s, when wristwatches first became widespread, through the evolution from manual winding to automatic movements, mechanical watches reached a significant peak in the 1960s, before the advent of quartz technology led to their decline. During this era, Omega watches were regarded as one of the “three sacred treasures” in Japan, symbols of status and refinement. It was a time when manufacturers competed intensely in precision, water resistance, and durability, investing heavily in the pursuit of better watchmaking. Omega stands as a testament to this period, when craftsmanship and performance were pushed to their highest levels.
