ROLEX CELLINI REF.4084 Red Vignette

COMMENT

COMMENT

The Rolex Cellini Ref.4084 is a rare dress watch produced from the mid-1970s to the early 1980s. It features an 18K yellow-gold cushion-shaped case housing the hand-wound Cal.1600, whose ultra-slim profile and softly reflective glass crystal together create an unmistakably elegant presence. The red gradient dial transitions from a lighter centre to a deeper tone toward the perimeter, forming a refined vignette effect that reveals a rich variety of hues depending on the angle of light.

The case shows almost no signs of wear, preserving its form with care. The dial is free from cracks, and the gradation of the vignette remains uniform and vivid. It is fitted with a recently produced genuine Rolex leather strap, and the original period buckle is also included, making this a well-preserved example with minimal overall use. Fully serviced by our watchmaker.

Unlike Rolex’s sport models, the Cellini line expresses the brand’s pursuit of classical design, and this reference represents one of its most successful executions. The contrast between the yellow-gold case and the red vignette dial evokes the refined aesthetic sensibilities of the 1970s, balancing vibrancy with quiet sophistication. Among vintage Rolex pieces, it stands out as a watch with an almost artistic allure.

BRAND

Rolex is universally regarded as the king of watch brands. While modern models follow a more defined design language, earlier periods saw an extraordinary diversity of case shapes and styles—an era in which the true charm of vintage Rolex is deeply rooted.
