COMMENT

COMMENT

The white dial features wedge-shaped indexes, with applied Arabic numerals at 3, 9, and 12 o’clock. The hands are dauphine with luminous material along the centre. Powering the watch is Cal.266, a small-seconds movement equipped with an Incabloc shock-protection system. It reflects an era when water resistance and shock resistance were becoming standard beyond sports models, resulting in a watch that balances practicality with a classical appearance. The 36mm case offers a slightly larger presence, with tapered lugs, soft edges along the case side, and a screw-back construction that together create a visually engaging design.

The watch shows only minimal ageing and retains a near-mint impression. The dial has no noticeable patina, preserving its clean, classical character. The hands and luminous elements have aged into an attractive beige tone, giving the piece a cohesive vintage warmth. The indexes remain crisp and largely free of tarnish, with the faceted applied numerals catching light elegantly. The case maintains its flowing lines from lug to lug and remains in excellent condition. Fully serviced by our watchmaker.

The 30mm calibre family served as Omega’s core movement line for over two decades and encompasses a wide range of variations. This example includes a shock-protection system and a balance with timing screws on the rim, combining ease of handling with classical mechanics. The screw-balance design also offers advantages in repairability in the event of a balance-staff break, making it a movement appreciated by watchmakers as well. With its blend of classic styling and dependable practicality, it stands out as an appealing vintage piece suited to everyday wear.
