COMMENT

COMMENT
A model distinguished by its pronounced bark-textured finish across both case and dial. The finely engraved texture applied to the yellow gold surface creates shifting light and shadow, conveying sculptural depth beyond mere ornamentation. This example features the particularly rare bark dial specification for this reference, achieving a striking sense of unity with the case finish. The indexes are three-dimensionally formed and, when viewed from certain angles, appear as bar indexes—producing an almost optical-illusion effect. The watch is accompanied by its original leather strap and original buckle.
The dial engraving remains well balanced, with no notable wear disrupting its texture. The print and logo are crisp, and the overall tone retains a composed golden luster. The bark finish on the case remains clearly defined, with minimal signs of use. The hands and indexes are in orderly condition, with no elements detracting from the integrity of the material. Fully serviced by our watchmaker.
In the 1970s, Piaget—supported by its mastery of ultra-thin movements—introduced numerous designs that expressed a jeweler’s sensibility with bold confidence. The bark dial of Ref. 9251 stands as a symbolic example: though rendered entirely in gold, layered textures create remarkable visual depth. It represents a refined fusion of playful visual effect and advanced goldsmithing technique.
