The SEIKO Ref. 6138-0040 is an automatic chronograph better known by its famous nickname, the “Bullhead.” Its distinctive layout places the crown and chronograph pushers at the top of the case, creating a silhouette reminiscent of a bull’s horns when viewed from the front. The watch features a bold black dial paired with blue subdials, while the yellow central chronograph hand provides a vivid contrast characteristic of Seiko’s 1970s chronograph designs. Powering the watch is the automatic Cal. 6138B, which combines chronograph functionality with both day and date displays.

The watch remains in very good condition. The case shows light scratches and signs of wear consistent with age, yet the substantial Bullhead case profile remains well preserved. The tachymeter bezel retains clear and legible printing, contributing to the watch’s strong overall appearance. The black dial maintains excellent color, while the contrast between the dial and blue subdials remains striking. The hands and indexes exhibit age-appropriate patina, though the watch retains a clean and attractive presentation overall.
