国産時計の頂点を築いたグランドセイコーの原点、1stモデルRef.J14070。1960年から1963年までの短期間に生産され、当時のセイコーがスイスの高級時計ブランドと真っ向勝負するために送り出した意欲作です。金張りのケースは丸みを帯びたラウンドフォルムに太めのラグを組み合わせたデザインで、品格と存在感を併せ持っています。クリーミーホワイトのダイヤルとゴールドケースの調和は、高級感を漂わせながらも控えめで、非常に洗練された印象を与えます。インデックスは多面カットのバータイプを採用し、針は上面がフラットなドルフィン型。6時位置の星マーク入りのSDダイヤルは、金無垢インデックスを用いているとされる特別仕様で、高級機にのみ採用されました。搭載ムーブメントCal.3180は、セイコー初のハック機能を備えた精緻な機械で、グランドセイコーの革新の象徴と言える存在です。

The origin of Grand Seiko—the pinnacle of Japanese watchmaking—Ref. J14070, the 1st model. Produced only for a short period from 1960 to 1963, it was Seiko’s ambitious statement piece, created to compete directly with the finest Swiss maisons. The gold-filled case features a rounded profile with substantial lugs, combining dignity with presence. The creamy white dial harmonizes beautifully with the gold case, offering refinement without excess. Multi-faceted bar indexes catch the light sharply, while the flat-topped dolphin hands reinforce the model’s disciplined aesthetic. The SD dial with a star above 6 o’clock denotes the special specification believed to feature solid gold indexes—reserved for higher-grade examples. Inside is Cal. 3180, Seiko’s first movement equipped with a hacking function, symbolizing the technical ambition that defined the birth of Grand Seiko.

Grand Seiko established Japan’s position on the global horological stage.
