端正なレクタンギュラーケースに、ゴールドダイヤルとローマンインデックスを組み合わせた、マストタンクの1stモデルです。ダイヤル中央にはレイルウェイミニッツトラックを配し、ブラックプリントのソードハンドとカボション付きリューズがカルティエらしい優雅さを演出しています。本個体は一般的なヴェルメイユ仕様ではなく、プレマストと同様の真鍮メッキケースを採用し、1stジェネレーション特有のディテールを色濃く残しています。ケースサイズは31.0mm × 23.3mmで、手元に洗練された存在感をもたらします。

ケースは経年に伴うわずかなスレが見られるものの、メッキのコンディションは良好で、エッジが保たれています。ゴールドダイヤルは経年による劣化が見られます。針は褪色し、グレーに変化しています。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

現在では、ジュエラーとして名高いカルティエですが、まだ懐中時計が主流だった1904年に本格的な腕時計を製作したのはカルティエが最初でした。「タンク」という名前は、“戦車”を意味し、第一次世界大戦中の終結に貢献したといわれる、ルノー製の戦車がデザインの基となっています。

COMMENT

This first-generation Must de Cartier Tank showcases a refined rectangular case paired with a gold dial and Roman numerals. A railway minute track runs through the center, while black-printed sword hands and a cabochon-set crown embody Cartier’s signature elegance. Unlike the more common vermeil versions, this example features a brass gold-plated case similar to the pre-Must models, preserving the distinctive details unique to the earliest generation. Measuring 31.0mm × 23.3mm, it offers a sophisticated and well-balanced presence on the wrist.

The case shows minor signs of wear consistent with age, yet the plating remains in good condition with well-preserved edges. The gold dial exhibits aging, and the hands have developed a grey patina due to fading. Fully serviced by our watchmaker.

Introduced in the 1970s, the Must de Cartier collection was created to bring Cartier’s refined aesthetic to a broader audience. This early example stands apart from later models through its unique materials and dial design, making it particularly collectible.
