This Rolex Oyster Speedking Ref.6430 features a stainless steel Oyster case measuring approximately 30mm in diameter. Compact in size, it retains the water-resistant construction and robust character associated with the Oyster case. This example is fitted with a glossy black gilt dial. The “ROLEX,” “OYSTER,” and “SWISS” signatures, together with the outer minute track, are gilt, while “PRECISION” and “SPEEDKING” are printed. At 6 o’clock, the dial is signed “T SWISS T,” with only the two “T”s appearing to have been added later. This detail reflects the transitional period from single “SWISS” dials to tritium-marked examples. The flat coronet is another characteristic feature of the era.
The case shows light signs of wear but retains its original form, with the outlines of the lugs and bezel remaining clearly defined. The dial preserves the deep gloss associated with a mirror finish, while the gilt lettering and printed details remain crisp. The lume on the hands and the hour plots has aged evenly to a restrained beige tone. The hands and indexes also retain their original appearance. Fully serviced by our watchmaker.
The watch is fitted with an original 17mm rivet bracelet, paired with 62 end links and a clasp dated 64/1. The glossy dial, combination of gilt and printed text, and later-added tritium markings preserve the details of a transitional period in Rolex production. With its well-preserved condition and compact Oyster case, this Speedking brings together the design and construction associated with vintage Rolex in a particularly concise form.
