COMMENT

1940年代初頭に製造されたIWCの手巻きドレスウォッチです。ケース径は36.3mmと、この年代の時計としては大型に分類されるサイズ。14Kイエローゴールド製のラウンドケースは、いわゆるカラトラバスタイルを基本としながら、厚みを持たせたフラットベゼルと、先端を多面的に仕上げた長いラグによって立体的に構成されています。ケースのシェイプに合わせた薄型リューズや、当時らしいメス式バネ棒も、このケースの完成度を高める要素です。

ダイヤルは中央と外周で色調を切り替えたツートーン仕上げ。アラビア数字、レイルウェイミニッツトラック、6時位置のスモールセコンドを配し、ブルースチールのリーフハンドを組み合わせています。夜光塗料を使用しない仕様のため、文字盤本来の端正な構成が保たれています。ダイヤルには経年による細かな斑点が見られますが、ツートーンの境界や各種プリントは明瞭です。ケースには細かな使用傷があるものの、ベゼルの厚みやラグ先端のファセットは良好に残っています。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

ムーブメントは、15石・毎時18,000振動の手巻きCal.83を搭載します。直径26.5mm、厚さ約4.1mmの設計で、ブレゲ式オーバーコイルを備えたIWCの代表的な戦前期キャリバーです。懐中時計用ムーブメントを思わせる大きな受けと曲線的なブリッジが特徴で、堅牢性と整備性を考慮した構成です。裏蓋内側のハンマーヘッド形責任刻印「105」は、ラ・ショー＝ド＝フォンのケースメーカー、Les Fils de Jules Blumを示します。ムーブメントだけでなく、ケース製作にも当時の専門技術が表れた一本です。

This manually wound IWC dress watch was produced in the 1940s. Measuring 36.3mm in diameter, the case is notably large for a watch of its period. Crafted from 14K yellow gold, its round Calatrava-style form is given additional depth by a substantial flat bezel and elongated lugs with multifaceted tips. A slim crown shaped to complement the profile of the case and period female spring-bar fittings further contribute to its carefully considered construction.

The two-tone dial contrasts the center with the outer section and is arranged with Arabic numerals, a railway minute track, and small seconds at 6 o’clock. Blued steel leaf hands complete the composition. The absence of luminous material preserves the clean, formal character of the dial. Fine spotting from age is visible, though the division between the two tones and the printing remain clearly defined. The case shows minor scratches from use, while the thickness of the bezel and the facets at the ends of the lugs remain well preserved. Fully serviced by our watchmaker.

Inside is the 15-jewel, manually wound Cal. 83, operating at 18,000 vibrations per hour. Measuring 26.5mm in diameter and approximately 4.1mm thick, this important early IWC caliber is fitted with a Breguet overcoil. Its large plates and curved bridges recall the architecture of a pocket-watch movement, with a construction designed for durability and ease of servicing. The hammerhead-shaped responsibility mark “105” inside the case back identifies the case maker as Les Fils de Jules Blum of La Chaux-de-Fonds. The specialist craftsmanship of the period is evident not only in the movement, but also in the construction of the case.
