エニカを代表するシェルパシリーズのクロノグラフ、シェルパ・グラフ Ref.072/001です。EPSA製の防水ケースによる頑強な構造を持つシェルパシリーズは、エベレストや南極をはじめとする探検の場で活躍し、ブランドの中心的なコレクションとなりました。シェルパ・グラフは1960年代を通して展開され、ジム・クラークをはじめとするレーシングドライバーとの関わりでも知られています。本個体はMARK 2に分類されるモデルで、ブラックダイヤルにシルバーのインダイヤルを組み合わせた逆パンダ仕様。アップライトの土星ロゴ、長方形の夜光を配した時分針、外周のタキメータースケールまで届く細身の赤いセンタークロノグラフ秒針が特徴です。

ブラックミラーダイヤルは艶を美しく保っており、シルバーのインダイヤルには同心円状の繊細な仕上げが残っています。角度によって虹色を帯びた反射を見せ、立体的な逆パンダダイヤルをより印象的に見せています。トリチウム夜光は均一なベージュカラーへ変化し、文字盤や針との調和も良好です。ホワイトのタキメーターインナーベゼルは目立つ汚れや欠損がなく、プリントも鮮明に残っています。特に重要なのが、赤いセンタークロノグラフ秒針がオリジナルの長さを保っている点です。インナーベゼルの着脱時に針先を引っ掛け、折損によって短くなった個体も少なくないため、先端がタキメータースケールまで正しく届く本個体の状態は貴重です。

ケースはノンポリッシュの良好なコンディションを保ち、多面的にカットされたラグには本来のエッジと力強い輪郭が明瞭に残っています。リューズとクロノグラフプッシャーも当時のオリジナルです。ムーブメントには、手巻クロノグラフの傑作として名高いCal.Valjoux 72を搭載。コラムホイールによる確かな操作感と堅牢な設計を備え、数多くの名機に採用された歴史的なキャリバーです。外装、ダイヤル、針、操作部品まで高いオリジナリティを維持しており、弊社にて分解清掃済みです。1960年代のレーシングクロノグラフらしい意匠と、優れた保存状態を併せ持つシェルパ・グラフです。

COMMENT

The Enicar Sherpa Graph Ref.072/001 is the chronograph from the brand’s defining Sherpa collection. Built around a robust water-resistant case manufactured by EPSA, the Sherpa series accompanied expeditions to locations including Everest and Antarctica and became a central part of the Enicar range. Produced throughout the 1960s, the Sherpa Graph is also closely associated with racing drivers such as Jim Clark. This example is classified as a Mark 2 and features a reverse-panda configuration with a black dial and silver subdials. Further details include an applied Saturn logo, hour and minute hands with rectangular luminous inserts, and a slender red central chronograph seconds hand extending to the tachymeter scale.

The glossy black mirror dial retains a deep sheen, while the silver subdials preserve their finely concentric finish. Depending on the angle of the light, they produce subtle iridescent reflections that add further depth to the reverse-panda layout. The tritium lume has aged evenly to a beige tone and remains well matched across the dial and hands. The white inner tachymeter bezel is free from prominent staining or losses, and its printing remains crisp. Of particular note is the original length of the red central chronograph seconds hand. On many examples, its tip was caught and broken during removal of the inner bezel, leaving the hand shortened. Here, it extends correctly to the tachymeter scale, an important and seldom-preserved detail.

The case remains in excellent unpolished condition, with the original edges and strong contours of its multifaceted lugs clearly intact. The crown and chronograph pushers are also original to the period. Inside is the manually wound Valjoux 72, widely regarded as one of the finest vintage chronograph calibres. Its column-wheel construction provides positive operation, while its robust architecture led to its use in numerous notable watches. The case, dial, hands, crown, and pushers retain a high degree of originality. Fully serviced by our watchmaker. Combining the purposeful character of a 1960s racing chronograph with an excellent state of preservation, this is a particularly coherent Sherpa Graph.
