機械式時計最盛期、Ref.1803デイデイトです。Ref.1803はCal.1555が開発された1959年から10年以上に渡って製造されたモデルで、年式によって細かいディテールが異なります。初期型である1960年製のこちらは、Ref.6611を継承し、刻みの細かいフルーテッドベゼル、バタフライローターの初期型Cal.1555、アルファハンドを装備しています。ルミナスのないフェイスはゴールドの立体造形と、わずかなレタープリントだけで完成されたコストをかけた意匠です。また、スペイン語表記の曜日機能がこの時計の大きなアイデンティティとなっています。前オーナーが大切にしていた証でしょうか、仕入れ時より曜日別スペイン語のメモが付属しています。

ケースは傷がほとんど見られず、プロポーションに優れています。2時のラグ裏のホールマークがしっかりと視認できるのがポイントです。ダイヤルは極微小なエイジングが見られますが、全く気になりません。美しいコンディションで当時のヘアラインをそのままに残しています。当時のオリジナル針とインデックスは上面の鏡面仕上げが煌びやかに輝きます。弊社にて分解掃除済みで、パワーリザーブ48時間以上を確認しています。

デイデイトは1956年の発表当時、日付と曜日を表示する世界初の防水性能を備えたクロノメーター自動巻時計でした。ROLEXから35代目アメリカ大統領のアイゼンハワー氏に贈呈されたことを始め、現在でも最高のステータスウォッチとしての地位を確立しています。

This is a Ref. 1803 Day-Date, representing the pinnacle of mechanical watchmaking. The Ref. 1803 was produced for over a decade, starting from 1959 when the Cal. 1555 was developed. Models vary in details depending on the year of production. This particular piece, manufactured in 1960, is an early version inheriting features from the Ref. 6611, such as the finely grooved fluted bezel, the initial version of Cal. 1555 with a butterfly rotor, and Alpha hands. The absence of luminous material on the dial, completed with gold three-dimensional elements and minimal letter printing, reflects a deliberate design choice emphasizing elegance. Additionally, the inclusion of the day display in Spanish adds a unique identity to this timepiece. It comes with handwritten notes in Spanish indicating the days of the week, perhaps a testament to the care of the previous owner.

The case shows minimal signs of wear and boasts excellent proportions. The hallmark on the back of the lug at 2 o'clock is clearly visible, an important detail. While there are extremely minor signs of aging on the dial, they are hardly noticeable. It maintains a beautiful condition, preserving the original hairline finish from that era. The original hands and indexes gleam brightly with their top surface mirror finish. It has been disassembled and cleaned by our company, confirming a power reserve of over 48 hours.

When the Day-Date was introduced in 1956, it was the world's first waterproof chronometer automatic watch to display both the date and the day of the week. From being presented to the 35th President of the United States, Eisenhower, by Rolex, to its current status as the pinnacle of status watches, the Day-Date has solidified its position as an icon.
