クロノグラフの名門ギャレットまたはギャレ（GALLET）。1933年から1938年にかけて製造されたマルチクロン12の1stモデルです。世界初の12時間積算計を積んだ、3カウンターの時計です。ダイヤルはタキメーターとマイレージカリキュレーターを備えております、ホワイトカラーにプリントはブラック1色、針はオールブルースチールと非常にクラシカルな配色です。面取りされた角形のプッシュボタンは操作性に長けており、ツールウォッチとしての意匠が感じられます。 バネ棒は初期の凹型のものが使用されており、細部までこちらの年式をご堪能いただけます。

ケースは触れると鋭さすら感じるほどラグのエッジが立っており、ケースは打ち傷すら見られません。ダイヤルは6時から10時にかけて、外周に若干の経年変化が確認できます。プリント欠けは見られませんので、ご安心ください。ブルースチールの針は、発色よく綺麗に残っております。弊社にて分解掃除済みです。

当時の市民とはかけ離れた軍用、航空、車などプロユース向けに販売されたものです。ステンレスが高級素材であった時代にクロノグラフというハイスペック機能を積んでおり、製造数がいかに少ないものであるかは想像に容易いです。当時においては衝撃の腕時計であったことでしょう。ブライトリングが名を馳せる以前、クロノグラフという特殊時計において、アメリカ市場でのビックネームはギャレットでした。当時の技術力の結晶をコレクションの一部に加えてみてはいかがでしょうか。

クロノグラフの名門。GALLETといえばクロノグラフのイメージが強く、1910年代から20年代にかけてワンプッシュ・クロノグラフを開発している。設立は1862年、ジュリアン・ギャレットによってスイスのラ・ショー・ド・フォンの地に＜ジュリアン・ギャレット社＞が。1883年には、息子のレオンに経営が託され、工場を＜レオン・ギャレット＞に。一方アメリカへの進出も早く、1864年になると子会社設立へ。クロノグラフはアメリカ海軍航空隊に供給され、40年代から50年代にかけてスイス空軍にも採用されるなど、長きにわたりパイロットたちの高い信頼も集めてきた。

This is the first model of the MultiChron 12, manufactured by the prestigious chronograph brand Gallet, from 1933 to 1938. It's a three-counter watch featuring the world's first 12-hour accumulator. The dial is equipped with a tachymeter and a mileage calculator, printed in black on a white background, with all-blue steel hands, presenting a highly classical color scheme. The faceted square push buttons are exceptionally ergonomic, exhibiting the design ethos of a tool watch. The spring bars used here are of the early concave type, allowing you to appreciate the details of this era.

The case boasts sharp lug edges that you can feel upon touch, with no visible scratches. Although there's some slight aging visible around the periphery of the dial from 6 o'clock to 10 o'clock, there's no missing print, providing peace of mind. The blue steel hands retain their vibrant color and remain beautifully intact. It has been disassembled and thoroughly cleaned by our team.

This watch was originally intended for military, aviation, and automotive use, far removed from civilian purposes of that time. It incorporates high-spec features like a chronograph in an era when stainless steel was considered a luxury material, reflecting its rarity. It would have been a marvel of a timepiece back then, before Breitling gained its fame. In the realm of specialized timepieces like chronographs, Garrett was the big name in the American market. Including this piece in your collection would be a testament to the pinnacle of technological prowess of that era.

BRAND

A renowned name in chronographs, Gallet is synonymous with the chronograph, having developed the one-push chronograph from the 1910s to the 1920s. Founded in 1862 by Julian Gallet in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, the company was passed down to his son Leon in 1883, becoming Leon Gallet. They quickly expanded into the United States, establishing a subsidiary in 1864. Gallet chronographs were supplied to the United States Navy Air Corps and were also adopted by the Swiss Air Force from the 1940s to the 1950s, earning high trust from pilots over the years.
