OMEGA Officer Blue Bullseye Dial

COMMENT

The Omega "Officer" was issued to the Swedish military during World War II through a collaboration between Sweden, a neutral country, and Omega. The screw-back case features an engraving in Swedish, marking its military origins.

The case measures 30.5mm, a standard size for men’s watches of the era. The lugs are seamlessly integrated into the case, creating a flowing design that combines visual elegance with durability. The dial is a rare blue-and-black bullseye pattern, with all markings in gilt print. The Arabic numeral indices are luminous, ensuring legibility. Inside, the watch houses the 26.5T3PCT1 movement, where "PC" denotes the presence of an anti-shock system. The balance wheel is bimetallic with adjustment screws, offering temperature compensation—a testament to the advanced watchmaking technology of the time.

This watch has likely been well cared for, preserving an exceptional level of condition for a military-issued timepiece. While the case shows minor scratches, its sharp edges accentuate its distinguished form. The bezel edge and case-back engravings remain crisp, retaining their original details. The dial is in outstanding condition—the black mirror finish maintains its deep gloss, and the blue sector has not faded. The luminous material has aged to a warm beige, creating a striking contrast against the pristine dial. This refined interplay of elements is one of the defining characteristics of this model. The watch has been fully serviced by our team.

This particular piece was issued to officers and higher-ranking personnel, setting it apart from standard military watches. Its meticulous finishing and attention to detail reflect its elevated status. It embodies the functional beauty of 1940s military timepieces, a rare dial design, and Omega’s enduring technical excellence. A true collector’s piece worthy of consideration.

From the 1910s, as wristwatches became widespread, Omega evolved from hand-wound to automatic movements. The rise of quartz technology led to a decline in mechanical watches, but before that, the 1960s marked a golden era for mechanical timepieces. During this time, Omega was regarded as a prestigious brand in Japan, often considered one of the "three great status symbols." Manufacturers competed in precision, water resistance, and durability, investing heavily in craftsmanship. Today, this model is no longer in production, making its vintage character even more special.
