TUDOR SUBMARINER Snowflake Ref.7016

COMMENT

COMMENT

The Tudor Submariner Ref. 7016, affectionately nicknamed the "Snowflake," is a standout piece known for its distinctive square hour hand and square-shaped indexes—an iconic design trait unique to this reference. Both the hands and markers are filled with luminous material, ensuring excellent legibility even in low-light conditions. A true tool watch in every sense, this model also comes fitted with a period-correct rivet Oyster bracelet, complete with a clasp dated “74.”

The case shows only light signs of use, with well-preserved chamfers along the sides that speak to its excellent proportions. The bezel has faded with age, but retains sharp definition with no major chips or damage. The dial exhibits the kind of natural aging characteristic of this reference, giving it a strong vintage presence. The hands remain crisp with minimal patina, and the luminous material on both the hands and markers has aged to a pleasing beige hue that complements the overall aesthetic. Fully disassembled and cleaned by our team.

The iconic "Snowflake" hands—an unmistakable symbol of Tudor’s design language—first appeared on the blue-dial Ref. 7021 in 1968 (serial range 62++++), and remained in production through the Ref. 9411/0 before being replaced by the "Lollipop" hand style on the Ref. 76100 in 1984. Nicknamed “Ika Sub” in Japan, this model captures the playful spirit and bold character that set Tudor apart from its contemporaries—a true classic in the brand’s storied dive watch heritage.

BRAND

Founded in the 1930s as a diffusion line of ROLEX, TUDOR was conceived to offer the same technical excellence in watchmaking at a more accessible price point. While ROLEX was known for its high manufacturing costs and relatively low brand recognition at the time, TUDOR quickly gained popularity among the general public. Ironically, it was TUDOR’s success that helped propel ROLEX into global recognition, shaping it into the prestigious brand we know today.
