TUDOR OYSTER PRINCE Black Mirror Plank Dial Ref.7995

COMMENT

COMMENT

Built on the same design philosophy as Rolex, this model features a robust Oyster case, screw-down crown, and a screw-back with engraved markings, emphasizing durability and water resistance. The dial boasts a lustrous black mirror finish and a rare no-date configuration. The 3, 6, and 9 o’clock markers are constructed in a two-layered format, adding depth and a sporty presence. At 12 o’clock, the rose logo is printed directly atop the applied index—a distinctive Tudor detail that adds character. The bracelet is the original riveted Oyster bracelet Ref. 7205, paired with end links 60 and a clasp dated 2/67, making it a rare and cohesive combination.

The case shows only minor hairline marks, remaining in overall excellent condition. The glossy black mirror dial retains a flawless sheen—an exceptionally rare find in this state. The distinctive hands and indexes show no notable deterioration, resulting in a visually balanced and striking aesthetic. Fully disassembled and cleaned by our watchmaker.

With its sturdy construction and automatic movement, the Oyster Prince is a highly practical choice for everyday wear. The printing of the logo directly on top of the applied index is a rare detail found in only a handful of brands such as Ulysse Nardin and Omega, giving this piece a strong sense of originality. The pristine mirror dial and period-correct bracelet components make this one of the most desirable configurations among vintage Tudor Oysters.

TUDOR was established in the 1930s as a diffusion line of ROLEX, offering the same reliable engineering and design at a more accessible price point. While Rolex initially struggled with recognition due to its high production costs, TUDOR’s popularity with the general public played a pivotal role in boosting Rolex’s visibility. As TUDOR gained traction, Rolex ultimately rose to become one of the most globally recognized and respected watch brands in the world.
