Cラインケースを採用したポールルーターのデイデイトモデル。ダイヤルにはグレーのサンレイ仕上げが施され、光の角度によって美しい濃淡が生まれます。インデックスは、ダイバーズウォッチを彷彿とさせる幅広のフォルムに、梨地と鏡面を組み合わせた仕上げが施されており、存在感と視認性を両立。内側に配されたドット状の夜光塗料がアクセントとなり、機能美を際立たせています。曜日と日付のカレンダー表示は視認性が高く、実用性に優れた一本。コロンとした重厚感あるフォルムに、三連リンクのユニバーサル・ジュネーブ純正ブレスレットがよく調和しています。

搭載ムーブメントは、マニュファクチュールであるユニバーサル・ジュネーブが誇る「マイクロローター（MICROTOR）」式。自動巻きのローターをムーブメント内部に埋め込むことで、薄型化と堅牢性を両立。スクリューバックのしっかりとしたケース構造と相まって、デザイン性と実用性の両面で当時としては非常に革新的な構造を実現しています。エレガンスとツール性能のバランスが取れた、UGらしい技術的完成度の高さが光ります。

ケースはラグのエッジがしっかりと立っており、オリジナルのフォルムを美しく維持。上面や側面に施されたヘアライン仕上げもきれいに残っています。ユニバーサルの個体では消えがちな裏蓋のリファレンスやシリアル刻印は、しっかりと読み取れるのが好印象です。ダイヤルはエイジングの影響が少なく、グレーの色味が当時のままの調子を保っています。針はくすみもごく僅かで、光を受けて上品な輝きを放ちます。針とインデックスに塗布された夜光塗料は、経年により穏やかなベージュに変化し、ヴィンテージならではの趣を添えています。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

This Universal Genève Polerouter Day-Date features the distinctive C-line case design, lending it a bold and sculptural presence. The dial boasts a sophisticated gray sunburst finish that plays beautifully with the light, creating rich tonal shifts depending on the viewing angle. The wide applied indexes, reminiscent of diver-style markers, combine brushed and polished surfaces for both visual impact and clarity. Dot lume plots placed just inside the indexes enhance legibility and emphasize its functional design. The day and date apertures are neatly integrated and easy to read, making this an exceptionally practical daily wearer. The watch is fitted with a three-link Universal Genève bracelet that complements the robust, rounded case profile perfectly.

Powering the watch is Universal Genève’s famed “MICROTOR” movement, a micro-rotor automatic caliber that allowed for slimmer profiles without sacrificing durability. Encased in a sturdy screw-back case, this movement showcases the brand’s pioneering approach to combining elegant design with cutting-edge functionality—a hallmark of the Polerouter line.

The case remains in excellent shape, with crisp edges and well-preserved original brushing on the top and sides. Reference and serial engravings on the caseback, often faded on Polerouter examples, are still clearly legible—an encouraging sign of careful preservation. The dial retains its original gray tone with minimal aging, and the hands show only minor patina, catching light with a refined shimmer. The lume on both the hands and indexes has aged to a warm beige, adding to its vintage charm. Fully serviced by our watchmaker.

The Polerouter’s origins trace back to the 1950s, when Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) commissioned Universal Genève to develop a pilot’s watch capable of withstanding the harsh conditions of transpolar flights.
