当時ビックメゾンであったエテルナによる、前衛デザインの2カウンタークロノ。ケース形状はサイドが一段盛り上がった独特な意匠で、耐衝撃に備えられてたものではないかと見受けられます。ダイヤルはコンパクトなデザインですが、サークルラインの内と外で仕上げを変えたツートーン、入光により色目が反転し、間伸びしていません。写真の2と3では反転しています。ルミナスのアラビアインデックス、目盛りの細かいチャプターリングはこの年式の定番の意匠です。6時下の表記がFAB SUISSEですので、当時フランスで販売された品であることがわかります。

言わずと知られたトップムーブメントValjoux22を搭載。名機Valjoux23の前駆キャリバーとして製造されており、わかりやすい違いはサイズです。22は一回り大きく、おのずと大きいケースになります。プッシュボタンを押す指の力でリセットハンマーを駆動する為応用しやすく、フライバックモデルCal.222やワンプッシュモデルなど多彩なバリエーションがあります。多くのメーカーで採用され、軍需品などにも散見するこの機械は、信頼と実績を伴っています。エテルナではCal.703Eと記しており、Valjoux22にOMEGAの23.4などに見られる旧タイプの耐震装置を付け、独自に機能性を向上させています。独自のデザインだけでなくムーブメントのチューンナップに抜かりのないところに、このメーカーのポリシーと実力を見ることができます。

ケースはオリジナルプロポーションが残ったままの、稀有なコンディションです。ラグやケースサイドの角が立ち、ケースバックの刻印がはっきりと認識できます。ダイヤルは淡く焼けが見られますが、目立った傷の無い自然な状態です。針夜光のエイジングが素晴らしく、素晴らしいベージュカラーを見せています。Valjoux22は入水によりメッキが劣化がしたものが多いですが、こちらは驚くほどに良いコンディションです。39時間のパワーリザーブをテストで確認しています。クロノグラフファンクションも好調に作動します。

This avant-garde 2-counter chronograph by Eterna, a top maison in its time, showcases a distinctive case design with a raised side, hinting at its potential for shock resistance. While the dial exhibits a subtle patina, it remains free from noticeable scratches, presenting a natural appearance. The aging of the luminous material on the hands is impressive, displaying a beautiful beige hue. Valjoux 22 movements often suffer from degradation due to moisture, but this example is surprisingly well-preserved. It boasts a 39-hour power reserve, and the chronograph functions operate smoothly.
