COMMENT

本作は1953年にイギリス空軍（RAF）へ納入されたRef.CK2777、通称“Thin Arrow”です。納入後、イギリス国防省（MOD）は放射性夜光の規格変更に伴い、ダイヤルを“Fat Arrow”へ交換する改修を大規模に実施しました。そのため、出荷時のオリジナルダイヤルを保持したThin Arrowは現存数がごく限られ、同リファレンスの中でも特別な希少性を備えています。裏ブタ内側には軟鉄製インナーキャップを収め、ケース全体が耐磁構造を形成する軍用仕様です。厚みのあるダイヤルと防塵・耐磁を志向した設計。ムーブメントにはオメガ30mmキャリバーの流れを汲むCal.283を搭載。

ダイヤルは経年により深いトーンへと落ち着き、粒状のエイジングが軍用時計らしい質感を醸成しています。夜光はトリチウムへ改修される前のラジウム仕様で、部分的に濃い焼けが見られるものの欠落が少なく、当時の姿をよく保っています。針は当時のままの形状を維持し、夜光の風合いがダイヤルと自然に整っています。ケースはマットなオリジナルの面が残り、使用に伴う軽いスレこそあるものの過度な研磨は見られず、ラグのエッジは十分に立った状態です。弊社にて分解掃除済みです。

本個体は一般的な6B/542とは異なる裏ブタ刻印を持ち、上段に「6B-9101000」、下段に「CPY10N」が刻まれています。さらに“OM15A”の手彫りが追加され、詳しいことはわかっておりません。オメガのアーカイブにおいても「英国政府向けに特別仕様のダイヤルおよびケースバック刻印で製造」と記録されており、どこの部分を指すかは不明ですが、興味深い品です。

COMMENT

This piece is the Ref. CK2777, known as the “Thin Arrow,” supplied to the Royal Air Force in 1953. Following delivery, the British Ministry of Defence carried out a large-scale modification program in response to revised standards for radioactive luminous material, replacing the original dials with the later “Fat Arrow” type. As a result, Thin Arrow examples that retain their factory-original dial are exceedingly scarce and represent one of the most desirable categories within this reference. The case incorporates a soft-iron inner cap beneath the caseback, forming a fully anti-magnetic military construction. The dial is notably thick, reflecting the watch’s dust-resistant and anti-magnetic design. Powering the watch is the Cal. 283, a movement belonging to the renowned Omega 30 mm family.

The dial has settled into a darker tone over time, with granular aging that imparts an authentic military character. The luminous material remains in its original radium specification—used prior to the tritium conversion—and, while some areas show darker aging, loss is minimal, allowing the period appearance to be well preserved. The hands retain their original shape, and the patina of the lume harmonizes naturally with the dial. The case retains its original matte surfaces with only light wear from use; no excessive refinishing is evident, and the lugs maintain sharp, well-defined edges. Fully serviced by our watchmaker.

This example features caseback engravings that differ from the standard 6B/542 format: the upper line reads “6B-9101000,” and the lower line “CPY10N.” An additional hand-engraved “OM15A” is also present, though its exact meaning remains unknown. Omega’s archive confirms that the watch was produced “for the British Government with a special-order dial and caseback markings,” clearly establishing its status as a purpose-built military specification variant.
